Re: WOULD YOU SUBTRACT THIS FROM THE ROOM?

Threshold does offers some appealing pieces and, to me, is more or less based on an effort by big box stores to offer up entry level and lower cost 'designer' type home decor lines. I like some of their offerings, while not being completely sold on their overall aesthetic nor on the quality of some of the furniture and other decorative items.

I would take out the floor lamp and the stool by the fireplace.  Don't really care for the little table by the sofa either.  Maybe it would look better when the stool was gone.

The pic over the fireplace is too big for the other decor on it.  Either replace it or get rid of the flowers.

I don't care for the light cabinets in the room, nor the floor lamp. The mantel could also use a re-do as well, but its not the worst.

Yes, I agree the floor lamp does not fit well in this particular room.  However, I like the floor lamp more than I like anything else in the room, so my choice would be to get rid of absolutely everything and then decorate the room around the floor lamp!

Re: WOULD YOU SUBTRACT THIS FROM THE ROOM?

I am a fanatic about good seating.  This pic represents seating for 4, possibly 5.  I'm not wild about 'side by side' seating.  Where you have to turn sideways to converse.  I like a semi circle seating situation.

Also, a place to set a glass and/or a plate.  I don't see anything conveniently close.  Not a fan of having to get up to put a glass on a coaster...

The lamp is a problem because it has a cord that can become a tripping hazzard.  I like all electrical cords put in their place.  Out of site as much as possible.

Cushioned bench is 'out of code' being so close to fireplace.  (Can you tell I just got a CO for and addition?).

Not wild about the shape of the couch, especially the *spool-y) legs and especially the arms.  I like something more squared.  Do like that it's not a bench seat cushion though.

How is anyone able to fit on the couch with the huge (eject button!) pillows, especially on the left side.  Funny thing is, even a rail thin woman will cover her stomach with a couch pillow--ever notice that?

Boy, I really picked this place apart!

Anyone who said the lamp just got a heart from me. It's awful.

Re: WOULD YOU SUBTRACT THIS FROM THE ROOM?

LOL; this poor lamp.  I don't know why I feel the need to stick up for it; perhaps because it's the only interesting thing in a room full of boring.

If done correctly and appropriately it has potential.  The shade, by the way, is designed to move to suit the task.  Granted they should have straightened it for the pic.

The one other thing I find interesting in this space is the paint choice.  The blue/grey ceiling is perfect.

Re: WOULD YOU SUBTRACT THIS FROM THE ROOM?

The lamp is fine with me. It's certainly a conversation piece. What's bothering me in this room is that little stool directly in front of that fireplace. Looks to be too close to that open flame.
