Re: WOULD YOU SUBTRACT THIS FROM THE ROOM?

The first thing I noticed were the two blonde/light cabinets that I didn't like in the room. Second was the floor lamp. I don't care for the artwork and the mantle decor over the fireplace and I also wouldn't want the ceiling painted blue for an interior ceiling. It would be fine for an outdoor porch though.

I would keep the fireplace. Really. For me at least.

I agree with @shoptilyadropagain about the blonde cabinets/shelves looking out of place.  In fact, very out of place in my opinion.  They'd have to go.

I'm actually on the fence about the floor lamp.  I guess the room would be better without it!

There are a few things I'd remove/change: The lamp needs a more streamlined version rather than looking out of a dentists office. Also, the whatever it is called (seat) in front of the fire place.

I, too would get rid of the floor lamp.  The curved blonde shelving I like, but the other one looks like Danish Modern.  I would get rid of that, too.  I also have a two tiered oval coffee table with a parquet inlay and it is forty years old and I still admire it.  Mine is larger and heavier than the one in the picture but just the same I was surprised to see it.

I wouldn't want any lamp where the cord runs halfway across the floor.

YES!!! Woman LOL

First thing I'd do is trip over it and go headfirst into the shelving.

Re: WOULD YOU SUBTRACT THIS FROM THE ROOM?

it appears to be the only lighting in the room?

i noticed the staged rooms/houses often times have no lighting beside chairs and sofas.

Pillows on the couch need to go plus that floor lamp, too.

Not crazy about those blonde shelves. Coffee table needs clearing off.
