Truth be told, I'd never heard of a dough bowl!

My great aunt, (miss her sooo much!!!) was the baker in the family. She used a big earthstone looking bowl with horizontal stripes at the rim. Those I have seen in antique stores. And I have one of her silver mixing spoons that is worn down almost completely on one side from scraping against the bowl for the better part of the last century.

I'll leave to keep my eye out for the wooden dough bowls

Those bowls with the stripes your aunt had, @Lucky Charm -- those are seriously great!  I love hearing these anecdotes of what was used in the past, and yeah, so much is highly collectible now...

 

ETA-- Sorry, it was your great aunt, not aunt as I said.  Need my next caffeine infusion!
