These things always come in three...

Hot water heater - heat pump both had to be replaced last week.These things generally come in 3s so we have been waiting for the other shoe to drop, and it did. DH dropped his phone on the ceramic tile floor and broke the screen. Luckily we have a guy in our town who fixes them. $70. It certainly could have been something much more expensive. He should have bought the extended warranty - I always do.

@151949

While bike riding at the Jersey shore, DH had his cellphone slip out of his pocket.  When he got back to the house, he looked for his phone to no avail.  After he walked ahead of me as I dialed his lost cell, hoping to hear it ring....for an hour, he finally gave up.

He had grudgingly taken out the extended warranty a week earlier when he bought the phone.  Was he ever grateful that he did.

Hope we the next week brings no more of the awful 3’s !

I've had my fairly new phone just quit for no reason out of the blue - replaced on warranty and my nephew pulled me into the pool with the phone in my pocket - also replaced on warranty. I ALWAYS buy the warranty.

I'm waaaaaay past 3 in this house.    In the past 5 years, I've spent more on replacements than the place was originally worth....

Hot water tank and heat pump replacement are normal replacements as a homeowner. If it were a vehicle, it's called "normal wear and tear!" Seems like you aren't even on #1 with the accident of the phone. Not a biggie in the scope of things. Save yourself some grief by looking for good things in life. Agree with @SilleeMee to think positively.

@BirkiLady  I thought this house was only a few years old.  Normal replacements, yes, but not for a newer home?

Home warranties are recommended; we've had great experiences.   A phone warranty is good to have but I can't imagine one for a phone but not for major appliances.

Re: These things always come in three...

I am waiting for "number three" right now. Saturday night we heard a very loud bang! We discovered that the wire shelving/hanging rod in my closet came crashing down, including all of my clothes and all of my handbags. (No harm to any of my Dooney's or Aimee's !). Then, on Sunday morning the spring in the window in our son's bedroom broke. That's two. Hoping there's nothing more to come. Maybe, just maybe these were actually two and three and I just can't remember number one. That would be good.
