Terms like coastal, farm house, midcentury modern, and warehouse are being over used and getting tiresome, and becoming less and less what the name implies.

They have to call it something, so until new catchy names come along we are stuck with them.

Just my observation and opinion.

I actually like something about each room, minus the red lamp shades!

The 1st room, minus the palms is nice

The 2nd room minus the red is nice and airy and open

The 3rd room is calm, peaceful and probably my favorite of the 3...

Each room should have one focal point - I can't find it in any of the rooms.

I agree with you on pictures 3a, and b.

The first and second have a clear focal point. It is as soon as the eye rests. The zebra print and the red lamps shades.

Your eye stops and then moves. That creates the flow needed to keep interest.

I too like all of the rooms but would just tweak a few things.

#1- The palms on the fireplace would go and I probably would add nothing...just the art is fine with me.

The area rug under the cocktail table would also be removed.

#2- The red lamp shades would be replaced with just off white shades and the same with the drapes.

My eye keeps going right to the drapes and the lamp shades. I think there is enough color in the room to keep both of them neutral.

#3- The room seems off to me. I love the fireplace...I think the drapes are too heavy and dated looking and they are smothering the room itself.

I would definitely remove them.

I like #1, but I would want a different print on the ottoman and rug. I like palm fronds, but I think they look contrived on the mantel so I would remove them.

#2. The architecture is nice, but I don't like any of the furnishings, prints, or accessories.

#3 The sofas and tables are ok, but not a fan of the rest.
