Often when I find myself attracted to a random room, the blurb or caption will inform me that it's "coastal" in inspiration.

If you like blues in a room, bingo, "COASTAL", they claim.

Especially, if you love the combo of blue and green, (my favorite color combination), woven materials of all kinds, tan and fawn neutrals, an airy feeling in general, they say "coastal".

Room above, which was described as coastal, has those elements, but others as well.  Love the unexpected tawny zebra print fabric, ( which immediately lifts the room above cliche), the basket tray, painted round rattan table, cozy blue club chair.

Granted, the seascape and atmospheric palm fronds waft us beach-ward...

This room below was described as coastal-ish too, if I remember right.  Do you find the red lampshades out of place?  The only other red in the room seems to be in the print over the fireplace.

If you were keeping the shades, I think you'd need to introduce red in at least one other place. But they're also too shiny, and sort of "hard-edged", for this space.  But maybe they wanted that effect.   If replacing the lampshades, what would you substitute?

I don't consider this room below "coastal", but it has something in common with the first room--

To me, what it shares with the first room is a feeling of calm serenity, without being boring.  It's just a little more relaxed, less formal than room 1.

I like both the first and third room.  The second room, not as much, even minus the lampshades.  You?

@Oznell - Blue is my favorite color, so I like rooms #1 and 3, but #3 is definitely my style.

Those red lamp shades in room #2 have got to go, or like you said, something else in red should be added in the room to tie it all together,

Thanks for sharing, I love looking at how rooms are staged/decorated.

I like room 1, the decor in it with the plants would be my spring/summer decor-the lake artwork, doors without curtains, etc. Room 2 leaves me cold, nothing in it holds my interest.  Room 3 is me! I love the curvature of the fireplace and gentle arch of the ceiling and shelves. When I see it I think southwest, not coastal.

None of them do anything for me but I do love the bones of #2 but would gut it (especially that horrendous print of the chair and sofa) I would, however, keep the two lamps and incorporate them into my redesign.

@Oznell What I like about the first room is the animal print ottoman in front of the fireplace.  I am not a fan of brickwork inside a white mantle but by having the ottoman placed directly in front, it softens with brickwork and incorporates it into the rest of the room.

The red lampshades as well as the lamps are all wrong for that room.  The red is jarring and the height and size of the lamps are way too large.  It disturbs the balance of the design.

Usually, I can find something positive in the rooms you post but this is a first for me..........not caring for any of the rooms.  But that's me, I am sure the owners are very happy with their selection.

Re: THREE ROOMS

[ Edited ]

The staging for all the rooms is done well. The eye flows. Coastal or even almost coastal is not my style, but I really like the first room.

The zebra print is the perfect focal point. It is unexpected, but ties into the other soft hues in the room.

The shiny red lamp shades are perfect for this room. It gives a different texture, and interest, and they are placed far apart to create a balance. I don’t think the room needs more red. It wouldn’t hurt, but not necessary.

Totally not my taste.  Too many windows!  Not enough color.

I prefer subdued lighting even during the day, and lots of color.

Each room should have one focal point - I can't find it in any of the rooms.

I'm drawn to the first room minus those silly leaves (palms? ferns?) in the bottles on the mantle.
