I'm sure this was asked before but...who owns a Speed Queen washer? Do you like it and why? I may be in need of a new one and was thinking about this brand instead of the ones that seem to last 5-6 years...Thanks!!

My aunt and uncle owned a laudromat and he said speed queen was the only brand he would put in his store. So we bought a set and had them for 22 years. Never even had to have them serviced.

@bargainsgirl. If you'll put "speed queen" in the Search Forums & Blogs search bar above, you'll get many posts discussing the subject.

I LOVE my Speed Queen Washer & my new Dryer. I had to get rid of my top load Maytag Washer 12 yrs ago because it was computerized & would not work after 3 mos. I couldn't add clothes to it because it would empty the water & I just had enough. I bought a Speed Queen Washer & you can open the lid & add more clothes & it would just keep filling & washed my laundry beautifully! They are like Laundromat washers & I have had it for 3 yrs now & it is great. Just had to replace the Maytag Dryer that was 12 yrs old also & I love that SQ too!!! It has a sanitize feature & also does not wrinkle my laundry!

I have had much longevity out of Whirlpool and GE.

My dear mother, rest her soul, had a Speed Queen and never had a bit of trouble with it. When I got married and my husband built our house, my mother told him to get nothing but a Speed Queen washer. Like Mom, we had it for years and years without an ounce of trouble. Loved that machine. Of course, that was many years ago; I cannot speak to their quality of today.

Like @Kachina624 said, put Speed Queen in the forum search bar, and you will find lots of posts to read. There are four top-load models...The TC5, the TR3, the TR5, and the TR7. The TC5 is very different from the TR models. I have the TR7 as do at least 3 other people that I know of on the boards. I've only had mine since June, but I like it. I do lots of different sizes of loads with lots of different requirements, so the TR7 fit my needs the best. We don't have overly dirty laundry, and it cleans everything very well. It has a 7-year warranty.
Oh, and some people are under the misconception that if their SQ washer has dials, that it doesn't have a computer board. This is a fallacy. There is a computer board under the dials on all the models.
Here is an excellent video on YouTube for you to watch. It explains the different models very well.

Speed Queen has always been known as the highest quality washer. But read recent reviews as it seems their quality has also gone down.

Our Kenmore washer died a couple of years ago and I was all set to buy a Speed Queen until I watched a video by a Midwest appliance store owner who loved Speed Queen washers until Speed Queen changed their washers to be more environmentally friendly. He said his customers, who were farmers and other blue collar workers, complained that the washers no longer got clothes clean unless they ran them through several cycles. There were other complaints that I can't remember just now. Speed Queen asked him to take the video down and rescinded his dealer certification when he refused.
Based on this, I bought a Maytag residential/commercial top load washer. It has about 5 different wash cycles, pre soak, extra rinses, etc. We've had it for a couple years now and it has worked very well. As Kachina recommended, search "Speed Queen top load washer reviews" before you make a decision. Both of these washers are more expensive than many others and you want to make an informed decision before you buy.
ETA: search under "Speed Queen top load washer complaints " too to get a complete picture.

My biggest problem with Speed Queen, is they have such a small capacity. I have had great luck with Maytag.
