A LITTLE VINTAGE FALL DECORATING

She's a thrifter and lover of old things, so her fall decorating reflects that.  Here are a few vignettes ( it was hard to get an overall view, the camera moved so fast) from around "Our Home on Lawrence".

I love her big black jar, with grasses.

Her little weathered owl is so cute!  She often uses open books, old ones, as backdrops, which is a neat idea--

....and there's a larger, open book under one of the mirrors.  Her wreaths fit with the muted theme.

This silly kitty in the window makes several appearances--

( Here below, he's being disturbed while she tries to decorate the laundry area)

She has a very shallow built-in shelf, and really like what she did there:

It's funny how a moody little wildlife painting with a gilt frame, gives that autumnal mood.  You can get that effect with ducks too, especially if their rendering is in fall colors...

I had to restrain myself to not show all her paintings and prints, they are so atmospheric...

The kitchen gets attention too--

In one corner, she has one of those antique schoolhouse desks, with the fold down seat-- love those!

She dresses it with plaid, and a beautiful old picnic basket-

In a later video, she showed how she adapted some upholstery scraps, to make cute cafe curtains-- perfect for fall!

The neutral checked curtains in the dining area are also fall-friendly...

....especially combined with the paisley tablecloth--

I like the way she uses natural materials, and year-round decor, like brass, old paintings and prints, moody colors, plaids, and lots of textures, to create the mood.

There is so much to admire.  The art work alone, just beautiful.  Her decor choices bring autumn into the rooms and are lovely.  I love the open book idea.  I have used old books for decor because of my love for books.  The school desk is a great addition!  The table cloth, curtains all perfect for the Fall.  The decorator has captured the feeling of the season with her vintage items, love it all!

I find these rooms very appealing. A bit more clutter than I personally would like, but still, very nice. I really like the darker wall color, paintings, and accessories in the living area.

Don't like saying this but there isn't one thing in any of those pictures that I like. Found the decorations and colors used lifeless.  Sorry!  As I know some will love it, it just left me flat.

Re: A LITTLE VINTAGE FALL DECORATING

Agreed, @spiderw ,  to me, nothing gives warmth like books and art.  You and I both love to incorporate books- I also love it because I can just "shop" my own library, don't have to buy a thing!

Interesting, @Hoovermom ,  I don't interpret it broadly as farmhouse. You're right, the black and white in the living room might suggest that, but those are classics too, and the vibe to me is "eclectic cottage"..  She has a whole backstory of collecting antiques, vintage items and paintings, shimmery items, lots of gilt and old brass, from a variety of sources.  So I wouldn't associate that with farmhouse style, at least, not the "modern farmhouse" craze that was so rampant a few years ago.

But of course, "real" farmhouses from the past did often incorporate beautiful and useful old things, using and re-using them through the generations, so I do believe it does share that with a more cottage-y look that in my opinion, this represents.

I like it! Very understated --my fave is the bowl of candy corn! I do that as a base under 3 Halloween candles I have---the ONLY good thing for  candy corn, IMO--Woman Tonguethe cat however, reminds of mine--always judging my every moveCat Frustrated

There are things here I like and things that I don't, but overall, I enjoy this woman's aesthetic.
