Fabric Protector for furniture

I purchased a 2nd hand/almost new chair with a light color background.  Is there any particular brand of fabric protector spray that can be recommended?  thanks

@SilleeMee   Thank you!  When I purchased my couch years ago, I had it sprayed/protected by the furniture store.

@Mom2Dogs

I use that spray on my canvas and other cloth-type shoes, too.

@Mom2Dogs.  Most people have new furniture professionally treated before it's delivered.

@Mom2Dogs.  You're right, I didn't see the second hand part.   So use some Scotch Guard.

@Mom2Dogs,  if you decide to use Scotchgard (and most other protectants) be sure to remove your pets from the area until the fabric is completely dry.  Even when dry be certain they don't chew or lick the fabric.

Re: Fabric Protector for furniture

Never thought the spray stuff did much good. I have a newer sofa and I put a folded quilt on the seat bottom and a couple of throws over the back. Have a cat who loves to  lounge on the sofa----I wash it all, vacuum the upholstry and put it all back on.
