I need some new placemats. My favs have "wash fatigue"!
Years ago, I got some dark navy floral mats by Ralph Lauren at Marshals. I rotated them with another medium blue floral that I've had so long it's unreal! They just work, you know.
DH would hold on to our dishware and scream and go balistic if I ever replaced it (he's "married" to the bowls), so I just buy placemats! I don't chose mats with a lot of white because of stains. I expect them to go the distance.
I had SO much fun going through all 30+ pages of mats on Etsy! You wouldn't believe the pretty looks!
I have several I'm looking at!
Here is that "amazing" set, lol!!! It does look great on my primative table, though!

Target has some very pretty placemats on sale from time to time. I bought some lovely silver beaded ones for holiday one year that were $38/each on Amazon for $5.00 each Christmas Eve eve. I have bought several different ones at Target but that was my real steal. From time to time, TJM has good deals on them. Our TJM is a treasure hunt. If you get there on Monday mornings, okay but if you wait --- you lose. ;-)
I like your cornflower Yorktowne Pfaltzgraf.

For many years I bought loads of lovely placemats at Mervyn's. I had 4 or 5 sets that I loved equally! They all eventually got "used" to death and had to be replaced.

Pfaltzgraff...a classic!
I never had Pfaltzgraff dishes but something similar when I first got married. The quality wasn't as good and they started to chip. I replaced mine with Fiestaware in several colors.

Oh my. I have placemats for all my tablecloths - and I have a lot of tablecloths. In fact, I rarely buy a tablecloth if it doesn't have coordinating place mats.

We have Chilwich mats on our bar in the kitchen and love them. They come in navy! I think ours are basketweave. If you spill, they just wipe off. They are not cloth.
You can google the company site but lots of places sell them and they do go on sale.

@ECBG, Your dishes are lovely and a true Early American classic.
Among antiques, jewelry, and other stuff, I love dishes. I pared down, but then bought a little starter set of Spode “Blue Italian” dinnerware. I love blue and white have a number of pieces for decoration, but no blue and white to eat from.
It’s a disease, for me. And at my age, buying dishes? I guess I am an optimist.

@ECBG A soft yellow would work as it would bring out the blue in the dishes. It really depends on the rest of your decor in the dining area. Good luck.

@ECBG, I bet you're having fun choosing!
We inherited a set of Phaltzgraff in that pattern. Service for 12! But the dishes and things were so heavy, we gave it all away. I kept the glasses, though!

When our boys were young, they couldn't set the table because of the weight of the plates. I usually filled the plates in the kitchen, though.
