A no for me. Placement of the shelving is way too difficult to reach and the mirror back would constantly have smudges.

In our previous home open shelving replaced a small window in our Master Bath. It was in a good location and made out of wood.

I just had a few decorative pieces placed on the shelves and cleaning was easy.

I am not a very practical person but the shelves make no sense to me.  Unreachable (unless you use a grabber) Doesn't appear they are completely reachable even standing in the tub.  Getting into the tub would be a challenge for many people.  Epic fail IMHO.

Or worse, epic fall.

The art, floral accents and bath are ok.  Not fond of the dark wood or the window treatment.

I have a glass shelf in my bathroom.  It doesn't cause an issue.

@ECBG  Do you have to climb in the tub to reach items on your glass shelf?

Re: Open Shelving in a Bath

[ Edited ]

There should be no reason for this bath vignette to resonate with me, but somehow, despite not really liking most of the elements, it sort of does. I don't think the shelves are open. That appears to be a clear cabinet door fronting the shelves. Still, access to those items would be tricky. The only way art over the tub makes any sense is if there is a stand alone shower, which there likely is. I don't care for the window treatment and find the tile unattractive.

Oh yeah, let me just climb in the bathtub to get a Q-tip. I simply don't get the placement of it, more than the fact that it's an open cabinet.

Aside from the placement being impractical, visually it reads "heavy" and a bit dated to my eye.

I like shelving, but don't currently have any because, well basically I am too lazy to stay on top of that kind of constant cleaning. If I were to add shelving if would be something like this from Pottery Barn:

Srange to have it all the way over to one side.  Makes it difficult to get to things and prone to falling in the tub.

It seems in the wrong place to me.  I would be afraid something would shift and fall on my head, knocking me out, then drowning in the tub.........dear God, I watch too many movies......
