Re: New Luminara Candles & Lanterns by Martha Stewart

[ Edited ]

I remember not long ago the Inspire Me brand here on QVC had some flameless candles that were clearly marked Luminara on the bottom, but they were not sold with the name Luminara attached to the tltle or description.  Now Martha is doing the same thing.  I think some sort of agreement or policy is the most likely reason why Luminara is not (or cannot) be mentioned, but I agree, it seems ridiculous.

@froggy, I'm with you in thinking that QVC wouldn't dare give us $11 off to leave out the remote, but it would be wonderful if they would.  Like others, another candle remote is the last thing I want or need.  I don't use the ones I have, except for the Bethlehem Lights Moving Flame Touch candle remote that came with H213936 .  I love it because it allows me to slow down the flame motion, and dim or brighten the light.   I keep them on timer, though, and only use that remote to fine tune the flame to my liking, then put it away.

Hi SPURT!!! Smiley Happy (I have seen you commenting here a million times but never actually interacted with you. You're kind of a fixture here. Smiley Happy  )

Anyway, I finally gave in and bought Luminara after several years of looking at them.

I got the Martha 12" tapers. I hope they don't melt in the mail, LOL.

I do wish they would give people a choice on whether or not to have a remote.

How many of the same remote does a person need?

Looking forward to trying out the new tapers. I missed the presentation, so I watched the recorded video. The tapers look beautiful and I am sure they will shine in the vintage blown glass taper holders I just happened to have fall into my lap recently. If they are as lovely as they looked on tv, then I know I will get so much use out of them.

Martha's candles, at least what I have seen so far, look really nice and are not the standard fare. I have been considering Luminara for a while, actually, but the price has stopped me in my tracks so far. I like Martha's stuff, so I look forward to seeing her show. Smiley Happy

What irritates the heck out of me is that Luminara is automatically including a remote with each candle....which adds an additional $11 per candle....I have enough remotes from the Luminaras I purchased and dont need another one!!!  People say they need remote if they want to give it as a gift....well offer 2 options then---one with a remote, and one without........

I seriously doubt that they would lower the price by $11 if there was no remote included. They may charge that much for the remote alone but that has got to be a very cheap item.

@froggy

But without remote the price would have to be LOWER! And I dont want to pay for something i don't need!

Hi...glad to "meet" you.....  I have been on the Forums for awhile but not as long as others....the Kathy Levine days  and Mike Rowe days were before my time....I work from home so I peek in when I'm waitin for my employer/Manager to assign me my specified tasks, and I keep the Q Forum open in a separate window to help me stay awake during boring video meetings....Woman Wink Woman LOL

ENJOY YOUR PURCHASES!!! Give us a review of the tapers and let us know how you like them.....

@Spurt Hey, I have a drawer full of remotes also! They might reduce the price a little but not by the full price they charge for a single remote. We can dream.

I will let you know what I think. They cost more than I usually spend on flameless so I hope they are nice. Smiley Happy

@SHOPR @Spurt @froggy

We should open a remote store together, with all the remotes I have and yours, too!

I have a boxful even after I have given them away.
