Re: Making a Grand Entrance...

I have always wanted a spiral staircase!  We looked at a home that had one but I hated the den and kitchen!  I was so tempted but then one doesn't live by staircase alone.  Woman Sad

I guess. . .

I guess you could say elegance in simplicity although a bit too stark for me. I would add some color with a nice landscape painting on the staircase wall and something different than the vase.  Just my taste speaking.

I love arched doors.  Trying to figure out the orientation of the photo....

@stevieb I know I'm picky but the first thing I noticed is that ugly light fixture. I am just very particular about lighting. Not a fan of the spiral staircase.

Re: Making a Grand Entrance...

I like it.  I especially like it when you enter a house, and you can see an intriguing little vista just ahead, like that room with the chair and the cabinet.  I wonder if that is a vintage Victrola, since the lid opens like that....

Re: Making a Grand Entrance...

Hey, I have that Victrola!

  Oh, sorry.

I like the marble entrance, that beautiful simple jar, and the wall sconce.

That rug seems unnecessary, unless they're hiding a flaw in the marble.

Although I like individual aspects, taken together it's a bit too austere for me.

@stevieb. I like the look.  I especially like how the door, staircase, and light fixture play well together.
