At least, I'm pretty sure it's in Grand Rapids.  The designer of this house, Jean Stoffer, whose been getting more and more national attention, has a design business and store in Grand Rapids.

More modern than I usually go for, but I love it!  Must be the combination of that lovely gray-blue stone (a local find?) in the chimney, and all the glass with light streaming in.

The massive chimney area doesn't even have the symmetry that I usually prefer--  yet, for me, it works.  It is very useful to have that niche to the side of the fireplace-- here, used as a bar.  With a tweak or two, it could be a super book case instead.

The velvet and leather bring warmth, as do the gilt lampshades.  And at least there is ordered symmetry in the twin chairs and lamps!

Another thing I like about it, is, the family room is right on the other side of the dual fireplace.  So, you have a somewhat less formal area to "flop", if so desired.   Still has all the natural light, still has the stone.

The rest of the house has such nice detailing too.  I love a hallway that has a window in it, let alone a nice window seat!

Fall is such a gorgeous season in the upper Midwest.  I can just imagine being tucked up on that velvet couch, a big fire roaring in the grate, and watching the brilliant autumn leaves spiraling down...

@Oznell I like the chimney and some other parts. Do not like that light colored furniture or the style of some of the other furniture, or those horrors of light fixtures.

The exterior had me picturing something different inside. I like what the designer did.

Love this house!  Outside as well as inside, the light is fabulous.  It would be fantastic during a snowstorm especially the fireplace going full blast against the snow falling!  As much as I love bookcases. I do like the bar and I'm not a bar person.

Re: MICHIGAN LIVING ROOM

[ Edited ]

@Oznell  Normally I have little love for anything modern. THIS, however is a real beauty! Modern, yet somehow warm... and can I say....even cozy.  I could live with this for sure.

This is one of my favorite house styles from the outside; I love everything!

The inside is very well done, and I agree about the bookcase Idea.  I prefer the family room side.

I love this home. Oh, there are a few things I'd tweak but it is still beautiful! Funny thing though....I didn't see much difference between the formal living room and the less formal family room....lol.

@Oznell

I like this home, inside and outside.  That fireplace is fantastic.  maybe it is the angles that most family room pictures are taken but don't most people have a TV?  LOL

I love modern clean lines @Oznell This checks all of the boxes. I love it. The massive windows letting in all that natural light is a real bonus.
