Re: Living, Dining, & Kitchen Remodel

What is with that mess all over the washer/dryer?  And on the floor on front of them.  That hurts me 😢

Re: Living, Dining, & Kitchen Remodel

I think it is lovely, reasonable, not perfect, but something that a homeowner would be able to afford and make a huge improvement in their living circumstances and the value of their home.

I don't need color here.  I would just revel in the improvement!

LOVE the after!  It has great clean lines and looks relaxing.  I love the monochromatic choice!

@wilma "Before' is truly ghastly. "After"  I don't like as I hate using black for any decor and don't like the color or cold feel of the whole room.

Anything is better than seeing the washer and dryer (and laundry) from the living room.

Re: Living, Dining, & Kitchen Remodel

I did a total kitchen remodel on a budget in my previous home. I wanted more light and a more open feeling in the kitchen without removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room. I wanted to retain two distinct rooms and did not want to eat in the DR while looking at the meal prep "mess". Open concept would have looked strange in that 1970 split level architecture, too. I opened the doorway between the rooms, very similar to what is pictured. What a difference that small, inexpensive change made! Much more light from the east facing sliding doors from the DR out to the deck into the kitchen. Improved ventilation as well..

Looks like they disliked the "before" so much that they decided to go for a blank slate.  I don't like either.

I do not care for either, both have little to no appeal, a big no for me on both!

Given what can be discerned from this picture, pretty much anything would have probably been an improvement and so this is, but the after decor in pretty uninspired.

Compared to the Before photo, the After looks terrific to me! I don't care how they decorated it....I think the story would be the architectural changes that really improved this place!
