I swear for two people the on,y day I'm not doing a load of laundry is on Sunday. Anyone know how I can soften my towels?

Three loads per week...sheets, towels and clothing. Since I found Shout Color Catcher Sheets, I don't separate darks and lights.

I do 4-5 a week depending upon the season. DH has to go to cardiac rehab three days a week and comes home with sweaty clothes and towel, so those go directly into the washer. If I wait to wash them, they get yucky and tend to retain the odor. I am one of the old- fashioned people who still separate laundry. I do mostly cold water wash except for towels and sheets. In summer, while it is horribly hot, we both usually have to change clothes twice a day so maybe an extra load. I am fortunate to have my own laundry room..when I lived in an apartment, the laundry room was all the way across the complex....such a chore to take it there and didn't like the people who hung around there...but I never felt okay leaving my clothes while they washed or dried...people would steal your laundry!

I feel like I do a lot of laundry. There's 2 of us and one dog.
I do 2 loads of towels and another load of undies once per week. Sheets are laundered weekly and put back on the bed. I have furniture throws so our dog can get up on the sofas. I launder those once a week. I do 2-3 loads of clothing each week. I did even more loads of clothes when we were both working.

@ godi
I use wool dryer balls & my towels are soft.

Many times there is soap buildup in the towel fibers that contribute to the not so soft feeling, of lack of absorbency.
I personally try to combat that problem with rotating laundry detergents, white vinegar in the rinse cycle, and then a second plain rinse. If this doesn't help, it is most likely the towel itself.

It seems like we have a lot for 2 people. Probably 8 loads. Towels, lights, DD's work clothes, my clothes, my bedding, DD's bedding, kitchen towels (do them separately in hot water). Oh, and bathroom rugs.
DD does her own clothes and bedding.

2 to 3 loads per week...two loads of clothes and a load of either sheets or towels/kitchen microfiber cloths if needed. Hubby and I don't really wear white clothes or underwear, so a lot of clothes get thrown in together regardless of color. I don't worry about it....as long as it comes out clean, I'm good. We don't use dishcloths or kitchen towels - sponges go in the dishwasher and I have a ton of microfiber cloths that we use instead of kitchen towels to dry hands.

For my own clothes, once a week, also sheets and towels the same. Then there is Spencer the Regal Beagle's bedding( who sheds like no other dog I have ever had) and it's every other day or so for his stuff.

@godi :We do not care for soft towels. Not absorbent enuff. I always rinse ours in white vinegar.
