Hypothetical question (not really)

If you were someone who took decorating very seriously (but in an enjoyable way, not like a chore), and spent hours researching products, studying techniques, searching the web, going through stores, etc., to find just the right thing for the look you were going for, would you be annoyed that someone copied something you did? (As in, tracked down the store, found the specific product in question and bought it.)

No, I just don’t take that sort of thing too seriously.

Re: Hypothetical question (not really)

Not at all. It means you have good taste. Also,  if it's sold to the general public you don't have exclusive rights, any one can buy it.

For example, let's take a fashion designer makes an outfit you can't afford.   If you sew you can make the same outfit.

Should the designer be upset?  I think they would be flattered.

That's my take on it.

I would not be upset, but I can understand why some people would be. If it happened on a regular basis, I think it would be concerning. Someone who  copies your every decision is just plain weird.

Unfortunately, this is the case. (Which is why I'm vague when I answer her questions.)
