@FlowerBear ...I used to get ants every spring on my kitchen counter top....even tho I kept it very clean. My dh put down the liquid ant traps that you put in the ground....Tero Ant Stakes....I swear to you we started this two years ago and I have not had one ant in the kitchen since.
My kitchen's back wall is an outside wall and he put two of them in the ground in that area.

This year I ordered those traps in Post 2 from Amazon because we had small ants in the kitchen during a hot stretch.

Terro Ant bait stations have many fans on Amazon. I have been using them since May and the ants keep marching in. I am not sure that they are taking the bait back to their nest.
I added the Terro outdoor stakes to see if that will help.

I hate those blasted ants and there seems to be a lot of them this year - we've had a lot of rain here. The ant traps never seemed to work for me, although I know a lot of people swear by them. I use an ant/insect spray on the outside by my sliding door, foundation and window. Inside, I keep a spray bottle of vinegar/water or a spray bottle of cleaning fluid like 409 - spray when I see the ants and wipe them up. After a few times, their scent trail is gone and they're gone too. I found that little pieces of cat kibble on the floor around the kitty dish was drawing the ants in.

Im not sure what I will try first but have been using the vacuum on them for now. Surprising how the next day there are more of them. The reason that I dont have the management help out is with my allergys and asthma I cant have regular products used and have to be careful.
Thank you all for your suggestions!

@FlowerBear - I think a lot of us have been invaded by ants this year. I've always used Ecologic spray inside, as once it dries, it's safe if you have pets.
I also use Amdro ant trap spikes around the perimeter of our house. They say to place them every 16 feet, but I put them every 8 feet. However, even that wasn't enough this year and finally I bought the Amdro granules and laid a barrier around the entire perimeter of the house and that did end the problem quite quickly. (Personal opinion, but I think Amdro is better than Terro.)
As you're in an apartment, I agree with others that the landlord should have the outside of your building treated. And you could also put the Amdro ant traps under say the sink area or other places, once you see where they're coming in. Just make sure no pet can get hold of them.

Every year I would dread when Spring came. Those tiny ants seemed to be coming out of sink drain and they were all over my counter. I tried salt - did not work, I tried Bay Leaves, nope and then this year I sprinkled cinamon all around the counter and for the first time in years - not one ant! I do not use chemicals of any kind so I was thrilled that this worked for me.
