Re: Have you bought a Christmas tree from QVC in the last few years? Opinions...

Several years ago(when they were so popular) I bought a fiber optic tree here, table top one about 4 feet high. We love it so much I have never put it away. I change the decorations for each season. Right now I have birds and butterflies on the tree. We enjoy seeing it lit. I get a lot of compliments when anyone comes. It is the first thing you see when you walk in the front door, is in the archway between the living room and dining room.

now, I can't remember if I bought it here or HSN, bought a tree from each and forget which I got from where, only one is fiber optic, other has regular lights, came prelit.

About 4 years ago I bought a "skinny" 6' BL tree for my mother in law who had moved out of her house into a smaller place. After she passed, I kept the tree as a second tree in our house and I really like it. The lights have worked fine each year. It is a little sparse being a "skinny" version but I have plenty of ornaments and fill it in just fine. The lights are all white and they are nice and bright.

Be careful about QVC trees there was a recall on them a couple of years ago, because of a fire hazards so I would hesitate to buy one from QVC......

If you have a Home Depot in your area (of course you will have to wait closer to the season) but I found they had the best price.

My 7.5 foot tree was a QVC special value. This will be its fifth season and it works fine. I was very lucky to be given it when my sister ordered a smaller one from QVC that has doesn't have all the cords (the wiring is right in the ""trunk"" of her tree). In fact my old BL tree is now at least 15 years old and we use it on our front porch. My suggestion is that you wait for a TSV and get one from QVC. We have had good luck with their trees.

About 10 years ago we bought a beautiful full tree that had the option of white lights, color lights, or both at the same time. It had about 1700 lights on it!! Several of the light strands are not working now, wish the Q would have this tree again. It was really a great tree and a reasonable price.

I think that's the one I had. Was it "The Ultimate Christmas Tree" (H86529)? It came with a remote and was really lush, you honestly couldn't see through it. It was a TSV the year I bought it. I used one of those light guns called Light Keeper Pro (H198071) and it was a time saver for sure. I had my tree for about 5-6 years, I couldn't bare to get rid of it, as I loved that it could hold my 1,000 ornaments and sprays and folks always complemented me on it. Once the pizza delivery guy stood in the door and said slowly, "Wow! That's your tree?!? {#emotions_dlg.w00t}" Needless to say he received a $10 tip for a $15 pizza for the comment and it was near end of Nov / Christmas season.

Now I have one of those molded tip trees from Lowe's. It's smaller and no where near as lush but it works. Just word of caution, should you order one tomorrow or anytime in July, open it and put it up as soon as you get it. That way you'll know if anything is wrong with it. That way you aren't ready to decorated it in Nov / Dec only to discover something is wrong and they are sold out of the one you bought. Then take it down, or course. Unless you like the idea of a year around tree that you decorate seasonally. {#emotions_dlg.blush}

I tend to buy artificial trees locally: Lowes, Home Depot, one from Martha when she used to have a line at K-Mart. No problems with any of them and I was able to see them in person and avoid shipping charges to get them home. Artificial trees have become so expensive!

I Last year I bought my first artificial tree as a TSV in Sept. It was H200682, Santa's Best 5ft upswept Fraser Fir. It has a remote with 3 light combinations and twinkle or stationary. I just love that tree and it was a snap to assemble and disassemble. I do miss the lovely pine fragrance, yet I do not miss the mess of the real tree. Overall, I was quite impressed by the tree and hope it lasts a long time; it is full and very dense. I had thought about an artificial tree for a couple years but they were all to big and I was just not excited. No one, no one has 5 ft trees anyplace so when I saw the size and a Fraser Fir I ordered immediately. I happened to always get Fraser firs live and always loved the shorter and dense trees so this 5 ft one was exactly what I wanted. I raised it about 4 inches to get a little more balanced height for display. It sold out really fast due to size and they received no more for the season.

ScarletDove,

This year look for ScentSicles at Wal-Mart, other stores may carry them too (you can buy online but you really want to sniff them to find the one you like). I use the fir scent in my faux wreaths as well as my tree. Smells very good. When you go to sniff, wave or waft the air towards you. Otherwise it's too strong. The commercials are really corny and don't do the product justice.

Martha had her Christmas Trees at Home Depot I saw them there last year. It was a similar kind to BL with the cord in the main poll of the tree so you dont even have to worry about connecting cords.

I too need a new tree. I can't even remember when I bought the one I have. It still is ok and all the lights work. But, it looks a little "worn". I know I will have to convince my DH that it's time for a new one. I can only imagine the price!
