I have white wood-look blinds on all my windows.

I use colored sheers on all windows, except the kitchen one over the sink (that one, I use a stained glass panel on it over the blind. The sheers coordinate with the colors of each room.  They are on bronze rods that have pretty crackled glass finials on them - I used the same exact rod in different lengths thru out the whole house.

Now, I did say all windows - well no - I do have a window in a back yard facing bedroom - that I just have not decided what to with. You know - it is one of those windows that they just do not put in the front of the house. I really have no idea why they use them... And, they always seem to put them right smack dab in the middle of the freakin wall, not say, over toward one corner or something! Perhaps a long sheer there also, maybe just swagged to one side with a fab swag knob or holder in the bronze also to match the rod. Yep, that sounds good...

We gave up on drapes. We have blinds and plantation shutters.

@Texasmouse -- no, shutters don't get nearly as dusty as blinds. A simple swipe with a Swiffer or good ol' dust cloth does the trick! We have a lot of windows, and I did the project in phases as I could afford it.

@Texasmouse

Love the new curtains!

And just my personal preference, but I think the room looks so much more complete and and warm the new way!

How are you liking them? Sometimes when I make a big change, it takes me awhile to get used to it, other times, I love it from the first minute.

Your room has "good bones". Nice flooring, really unique wall space above the fireplace, and lots of light from the windows. I like it and it feels homey and welcoming.

Thanks, @Mominohio

I have to say, I loved the change from the start. I agree that it makes the place more homey. Much better than the generic blinds that were there before. The drapes are still a little wrinkled from being folded up in the package but I'm hoping the wrinkles will fall out after a while. If not, I guess I'll just steam them. Thanks for your feedback. I hope you like yours too, when you change them!

@Texasmouse  What a beautiful room you have and the curtains really make it look warm and inviting.  I just want to say that I like that fireplace so much.  Did you have it custom built?  I haven't seen one exactly like it and my mind is wondering how beautiful it is decked out for Christmas since that's my big time to decorate.  Enjoy your new look.

@Group 5 minus 1Now that sounds like the place to live.  Do you have wooded areas around you to take walks through?  I like to have blinds  and curtains in my house but I live in a subdivision so it wouldn't work out without them.

@lucymo

Thank you! No, we didn't have it custom built, it came with the house like that. Yes, it can be fun to decorate it for Christmas although there's no mantle, per se, so it can be a little more challenging.
