Yes, we have quite a few in use in this house, and have not experienced any issues. My teacher daughter stores her seasonal clothes in them, then packs the flat bag inside a plastic tote for basement storage.

I HATE throw pillows, and have all 8 that came with my couch and loveseat stored in them. I also have a king size comforter stored in one, and all are inside my bedroom closet along with 3 plastic totes.
