Re: Decorating a 'Friends Room'

I like all the rooms..the last is my least favorite.

If someone told me they were decorating a Friends Room I would think a friend of theirs was coming to stay at their home for a period of time and they were making a room for this person...probably bedroom with TV/sitting area.

Apparently I was thinking totally wrong.

Hmmm...  Is it a room where you display all the  eclectic gifts that your friends may have given you over the years  or is it a room where your decor is very neutral  or is this an ode to the sitcom Friends ?

Room   6 preferably  than room  4  & 1  would be okay for me . However, I am happy to share the company of   my Friends either at my home or their  homes no matter the style.

I like 1 and 2 the best!

My whole house is for friends and us, so if the friends don't like it, well, they don't like it.

#4...simple, clean of excess clutter, serene.

My second choice would be #1 for same reasons, but prefer #4 because of the sofa which would allow more opportunity to relax vs. sitting up in straight chairs.

Too much 'stuff' all around for me in other pictures.

Don't "friends" usually gather in the kitchen or family room?

Re: Decorating a 'Friends Room'

@jeanlake - I'm a little confused. At first I thought you were talking about the TV show! That would be DD's dream! Then I wondered if it was a room where a friend could stay overnight, but I don't think that's what you mean.

So I guess an ideal "friend's room" for me would be a room with comfy chairs, arranged so we could talk easily, a relaxing theme - not a lot of decorations, pretty colors on the walls, a big ottoman or coffee table to set drinks and snacks on, an maybe a TV so we could watch a "chick flick" together!  Smiley Happy

Re: Decorating a 'Friends Room'

I don't exactly know what is meant by a friends room, but I just take it to mean a room where she will have her besties come over and congregate and all can gab, eat, drink, play cards, games, or have book clubs or whatever!  I personally think these rooms are kind of formal and there is so much white which I don't think is practical if you plan on having a lot of friends gathering.  I would want more color, some throws, and fabrics, etc. which I wouldn't have to worry about staining or ruining!  Also, none of the rooms are particular warm and cozy and relaxed looking.

@jeanlake

Definitely pic 1.

What a welcoming room.  It's the prettiest, brightest & has all the furnishings & accessories that are a style I like.  The chairs are lovely & appear to have firm cushions, which I prefer.  Pillows go very well with them.

I would just change out the pics on the wall to either a combo of scenic ones or animals.  Also, maybe paint the walls a soft neutral to break up some of the white.
