I received a catalog from Cuddledown yesterday, my first in years.  I found a set of sheets I loved.  I went to Rakuten, then to Cuddledown's site, searched for them and found them.  LOVE them.

The flat sheet was $199.

The fitted sheet was $199.

The pillowcases were $89 for 2.

$500 for a set of sheets????!!!!!  They are out of their minds.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Wow, those are prices I see at luxury specialty linen retailers such as Schweitzer Linens in NYC.  Have to admit, the items I have purchased from Schweitzer in this price range have lived up to the price tag. There are brand such as Pratesi that make $200 seem inexpensive for sheets.  Not claiming to have bought an $800 sheet, but I have felt them in a Pratesi store and they do feel incredibly luxurious.

I don't have Cuddledown sheets, but I did receive a pair of pj's from there for Christmas. I don't know how much the person paid because they were a gift, but I have never felt pj's like them before in my life! So soft and luxurious. I have washed them over and over and they still look and feel exactly the same as the first time I wore them.

Re: Cuddledown sheets-yikes!

What we spend on any item is all relative to so many things including what we put value on and our circumstances.  For some it's waiting till the kids are all educated and out of the house to get the Corvette they wanted since they were a teen.  I have saved up for things that I wanted that others would think I was crazy.

Honestly I could have bought those sheets, with what I wasted on D&B handbags that sit in my closet and slept on luxury every night.  We all make our choices.  No judgement

@gidgetgh

I have heard that cotton prices are up, but that must be some very high quality cotton!

@mspatmac - I agree with your point.  For the money I've spent on other things that I didn't need or overbought or have grown tired of....

Can I buy the sheets?  Yes.  But I tend to tire of things maybe quicker than I should so I really had to step back from that.  But, I only own 2 sets of sheets and one set is just about worn out so it's not like I have tons of sheets. My immediate reaction was just sticker shock.  And I didn't get any sort of pop up offering me even 10% off first purchase or anything.  Just the cash back from Rakuten.

Just so many ways to spend money.  Some people can have no limits, but the rest of us have to make choices.

Just think that I understand some lottery winners have gone broke.
