Perfect timing, @lolakimono. My husband and I are looking for a new coffee table. We haven't really thought about size, just design. I'll keep this info in mind next time we're out shopping.

I hate coffee tables & they hate me. Too many leg bruises from bumping into them to count.

When ever I am in a house w/one, I sit as far away from them as possible.

They don't have my furniture arrangement.

I have an extra long sofa (seats 4 comfortably) against the wall at right angles with a loveseat, and I have a 16" high rectangular coffee table in front of sofa that's about 2/3 the length of the sofa and end tables at each end of sofa. Bookcases behind loveseat as room divider between "library" and "living room."

This is interesting.

I've done away with a sofa or a love seat altogether in my living room.

I have two rather large chairs, that sit on either side of a large side table, and at angles toward the table, with a coffee table in front of them.

Loving the new look, and don't one bit miss the sofa.

I ditched having a coffee table years ago. Waste of space. LOL.
I have a sofa, arm chair, end table, ottoman.

I have never owned a coffee table. My dad disliked them, so I didn't grow up with any either.

When we got married in 1983 I bought a typical rectangular shaped coffee table at JC Penneys.It has sides that can be brought up to make it oval in shape when I want to put out appetizers etc.I've had 4 new sets of upholstered living room furniture but only this one coffee table for 35 years.My end tables have also been around that long.

I only put coffee tables on the sides. (not in front of a couch)

I stopped using coffee tables years ago. I presently have 3 end tables (one at each end of the couch and bc my furniture configuration is in an L shape I have one end table on the left hand side of the loveseat.
