I think the room is lovely just the way it is. Since the rest of the room isn't visible, it's impossible for me to comment on the blue rug. But, I'm betting the decorator has it incorporated well.

The tree and green chair are lovely!  The rug needs to go and the mantle decorated perhaps with some other festive colors other than green.  There is potential in this area!!!

I think it's done very well, but it's not for me.

I like it.  The green really pops.

I had to laugh when I read some postings.  Who would change the color of a chair or a rug at Christmas time so their tree and ornaments match?

Not anyone that I know.

I MUCH prefer the green to the red.  I think the gold accents are festive also.  I don't mind the color of the green chair, but the style is not something I would want.

Let me see...

I would of done the ribbon a matte gold on the tree,

Also, I would use  a different pattern/texture matte gold ribbon in the mantel garland,

versus the small gold bead strand used here.

I would ditch both those stockings and find something more festive,

but keeping with the gold and green theme.

(Decorating wise, that round gold table needs to go and be replaced.)

There is blue in this room?...one would think anyhow, judging by the rug?...

Then there is nothing wrong with the rug,

In most cases, I do not care for green so this room is definitely not for me.
