And you need us to know this why?  It's great you love camping and love being frugal but im not sure why you go on and on about it. It sounds dreadful to me.

I think it sounds lovely, to live in a pretty place like that for part of the year. My only drawback is that they do stay put for that $50 a day, and that comes out to about $1500 per month.

Everyone has a different budget, but that is pretty high to stay in one place. It isn't like you are traveling and seeing the country and all kinds of cool places for that kind of money. You are basically paying high end rent (for that part of PA) to stay in a camper. Nothing wrong with the lifestyle, just isn't really what I'd call 'cheap'.

If you read my post you would realize that that $50 took into account the cost of / depreciation on the camper, and our cost for the campground fees are only $17 a night.

As for those who prefer to travel around - we did that too but we now have a different set of priorities. We come to Pa to spend some time with friends and family, and to do that we stay in one place.

There is no hotel that can compare with sleeping on your own mattress and pillows and using your own clean to your standard toilet and shower and towels. Not having to wear clothes that are all wrinkled from being smashed into a suitcase but have been hanging in your closet, nice and fresh. Eating the foods you like when you like just like at home. We have cable TV and internet - included in our yearly camping fee. And, yes you do meet the very nicest people when you go camping.

@Kachina624 We rent this site for 12 months of the year, store it here on site all winter. We stay here for 5 months in the summer and those 150 days are what I based the $17/day on. We have full water, sewage and cable TV and internet for that price - we pay the electric. However, we would be paying electric anywhere we would live.

I did apologize and I didn't call you rude. I was just answering your question why people post rude comments on your posts.

$1500 does sound like a lot to live in a trailer park but I'm truly glad you're happy. That's all that matters.

@GenXmuse So in your world you can just say any mean or hurtful thing and then apologize and everything is all hunky dorry? I am certainly glad I don't know you IRL. Myu mother taught us that you don't do things in the first place that will require an apology later.

I didn't HAVE to apologize. My mother taught me to own my mistakes and apologize. If you don't want to forgive me that's completely your decision.

Re: Certainly inexpensive accommadations

To get back to the original topic; DH & I started out 24 years ago with a pop-up camper & then graduated to 2 different travel trailors. We took our dogs with us & they were the queens of whatever park we stayed in. They even had their own cupboard for food and toys (also shampoo in case they got in something & a picture of them in case they ran off). We were able to take them with us everywhere & had some great times. They are now in doggie heaven, we've sold the last trailor and are now "hoteling" it in our travels. Yes, it is more expensive, but it was getting too difficult to do the towing (a certain sized vehicle is required which adds to the expense) plus there is set up when you get to a site and packing it all up when it's time to go (many times in the rain). We're comfortable with what we're doing now but have some wonderful memories of our travels.

@151949

I just like to take a day trip to where you are, that historic village sounds like a fun place to visit.

Re: Certainly inexpensive accommadations

@joannecha  We started this in the beginning because we had a dog - now the dogs are long gone but we are still camping 33 years later. Of course we do not set up and take down our camper anymore because we stay in one place, but I do remember those days.
