Are you still burning?  I am, and have tried different brands.    I'm not sure that the pricey ones are worth it, but maybe a combination of cheap/costly is the answer.

I just seem to love the light, the aroma, and the ritual.

@Sweetbay magnolia  We're early risers here and generally light a candle before dawn on the screened porch.  We go out with coffee, listen to the early morning sounds and enjoy the flicker of the candle.  I've found that the Better Homes and Gardens candles (around $5 for a large) at Walmart to be as reliable as the more expensive ones.  I think my current one is vanilla.  Just wish they had a wider variety of scents.

Bringing out my fall scented Slatkin candles today. I burn them in my kitchen, but the scent carries throughout our first floor.

I too love the "ritual" of candles.

Unfortunately, do to too much soot issues in my condo, after I painted in 2019, I vowed no more flame candles in the home.

That said...I still burn them on the deck, early morning or early evening, outside.

Also, my kitchen is due to be done over and still has the old paint...so I'll occasionally burn one, sitting on the stove.

Today is gloomy here in CT, gonna be rainy...got up early and lit my flameless candles...I too love the ambiance in the early morning, with a cup of tea/coffee.

Wondering...do y'all recall Old Virgina candles? I was sorry when they went out of business. (you can sometimes still find them on Ebay...not sure how fresh they are now.)

I still have about a 1/3 left of an old one...smells as good as the day I bought it..."Pink Cupcake", with a cute topper on it (topper has all pastel baking gadgets...a little mixer, bowls, jars etc.). I burn it every now and then, but it's the last of those I have. I used to buy their Wood Wick candles too...the ones that crackled like a fireplace. You can find other brands that do that now...we bought one a few years back. Then I stopped burning flame candles...excepting those instances I said above.

Re: Burning Candles?

[ Edited ]

Another candle burner here!  I also love the different scents that can be found seasonally.  It puts me in a good mood and seems to help mellow the day ahead.  I used to buy all the more expensive candles, but on a whim I tried the soy-blend candles that Aldi's have called Huntington Home 3 wick candles.  They have new scents every month that are released  to the store and,  I have to tell you, they rival any of the expensive brands in scent, quality, strength and performance of high-end alternatives and they are larger than their premium counterparts .   At $3.99 per candle you can afford to get all the scents they release once a month

I just purchased these new seasonal scents:  Pumpkin Apple Fritter; Fall Flannel Shirt; Pear, Chestnut and Teak; Thankful, Grateful, Blessed; Almond Apple Torte and Sunflower and Zest.

If you have an Aldi's near you, give their Huntington Home 3 wick candles a try.  You will be very pleasantly surprised at how wonderful they are.

I love candles and am enjoying a line recommended here last year called Southern Elegance.  I still love some of the old Yankee Candle staples.

The Souther Elegance are very soft and have a lot of oil in them, so they are producing a lot of soot on my HVAC filters if I burn them all day, which I had been doing last year when I first started working from home full time.  So I have been burning them in the morning when the system doesn't run to cut down on the soot situation.

I hardly ever burn them anymore, in fact I don't even think about it very much.  I do miss them though and I will usually light one around the holidays.  I still have a closet full of Yankee candles and several soy candles I bought in Maine.   Thanks for the reminder, I'll have to pull one out for the fall.........got too spoiled with all my flameless candles.

I get that. I will say I'm glad I'm keeping soot out of the air inside.

I too still have a little stash...been trying to use up outside. Did declutter and give some away this summer, also donated. So I'm down to the last of my Yankee Candle, Slatkin Christmas and a few summer candles. At this rate it'll take me the rest of my life to even burn these down!

The one Yankee Candle I bought up on Ebay, is a "collector's item" now...they used to only come out with this fragrance as a "special edition" but now don't even do that. I burn that in my kitchen occasionally, with a topper to trap the soot. It is "Christmas Wish." It became my home's "signature smell" when I first moved in and there was nothing here while we did some renovations, I had this burning. It is delicious and I don't know why they replaced it with ones like Christmas Cookie etc, not nearly as good. So it just reminds me of my "new home." I keep it out sometimes just to smell it when it's not burning.

But other than that...not burning much anymore. And I do love the flameless ones with dancing wicks. Still get ambiance with that...just not fragrance. But it's a trade off...too much soot before and I'm loving my clean, fresh coat of paint now more. Smiley Happy

I found some nice candles on Etsy called ThreePinesCandles.  Small company, all handmade soy candles with crackling wicks, all recyclable.  Evidently just getting started, but the candles are cute and great scents, too.
