Re: Bought a new mattress- question about sheets

You should be fine with just regular sheets they sell these days. I just went and measured my mattress. It's just over 12" and any sheets I have fit it fine with a little room to spare. I think they pretty much all make them 'deep pocket' anymore because mattresses are just a lot deeper than they were many years ago.

Over the years I've gotten really nice quality Egyptian cotton sheets (I usually go mid-range - 600-800tc) from overstock.com. I've also gotten nice Egyptian cotton sheets in that tc range at shophq the last few years.

I stay away from microfiber or the cotton-poly blends. You can get great quality Egyptian cotton (100% of course) in mid to high thread count from these places, and I'm sure others, for pretty inexpensive. I generally pay anywhere between $50 and $80 a set up to 800tc of 100% Egyptian cotton. Some are 6-pc sets (4 pillow cases, which is nice).

Re: Bought a new mattress- question about sheets

SOONER, where do you find sheets to fit your 22-inch mattress. The only ones I have been able to find were at Bed, Bath & Beyond & they don't carry them anymore. I hate my deep mattress but am stuck with it because it was so expensive. It's too hard to make & can't find sheets to fit it.

Re: Bought a new mattress- question about sheets

Check these out. Threshold ultra soft 300 thread count sheets at target.

We bought a king sized bed and I spent a fortune on high quality sheets for it. The sheets came undone at the corners all of the time, they pilled, and they just never stayed on the bed. I have an 18 inch mattress. I bought these sheets at target and I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing they are. They stay tight and have extra elastic at the corners, they don't pill, they get softer and softer with each wash, they always smell fresh, and they have little tags on the side that say top, side, so your not fussing around with them. I love love love these sheets and will never buy anything else. Plus they are 100% cotton, they breath, they stay cool in the summer and all of my friends are now buying them, they are that good. Plus, they don't cost you an arm and a leg.

Thanks- I'd looked at the Target sheets online yesterday and planned to go there. We had a set of Target sheets several years ago that we loved. They finally just wore out, but they were terrific. I'll go look for these.

Re: Bought a new mattress- question about sheets

Yep, it's going to mean new sheets of the 'deep pocket' ilk. What I did was try to find (and it isn't easy) solid color bottom sheets that I could buy individually. I bought a few new sets, but finding those solid bottoms permits me to use top sheets and pillow cases I already had.

I buy my deep pocket sheets at Macy's. Martha Stewart has deep sheets for 22" mattresses. They are 300 thread count sateen sheets and are GREAT. They are NOT sold in sets so I can buy the fitted sheet only which is all that I need. They are ONLY sold on Macys dot com--NOT in their stores. Check them out TOMORROW during the One Day Sale, otherwise they are pricey. HTH!

Re: Bought a new mattress- question about sheets

We bought a new mattress several years ago. I went from a very thin 30 year old mattress to a 18"" high mattress. YES I certainly had to buy new sheets. I don't find it a challenge finding the very deep pocketed sheets that I need. They seem to be everywhere.
