My husband and I bought a new mattress and box springs yesterday. They're being delivered on Monday. The mattress is 13 inches tall which was really meaningless to me at the store. We haven't bought a new mattress in forever (the one we're currently using was given to us by my parents..... years ago) so I had no idea how thick our mattress was. I just knew that when we were sitting on the beds at the store, they were higher than ours.
When we got home yesterday, I measured our current mattress and it's only 8 inches! And our sheets fit fine on them but the fitted sheet isn't overly large. We don't have tons of sets of sheets, but I'm getting the feeling that we're going to have to get new sheets that will fit the new bed.
Does anyone have experience with this? I know they had mattresses as thick as 15 inches at the store, but ours is 13 inches. Do I have to look for deep pocket sheets or anything special? I don't think our current sheets have a ton of extra room to accommodate another 5 inches, but I really won't know till the mattress gets here.

You'll probably have to buy new sheets. Our mattress is 13" high and when we first bought it, I had to replace about ninety percent of our sheets.
Macy's Charter Club brand is pretty good. They have regular and extra deep sizes.
I spoke with a sales associate, she told me that their extra deep sheets fit a mattress that is 18" high. I bought the regular and the sheets fit great, even after washing.
So many sheet sets say extra deep but then shrink too much after laundering.

Most sheet sets will tell you on the package what size mattress they will accommodate.

We have to get 22 inch deep fitted sheets and they are NOT easy to find.

Ours requires 18 inch deep sheets, also difficult to find. I'm not sure whether QVC offers any that will go this deep.

We bought a new mattress & box spring a year ago. It's so high that until I really got used to it, I had to use a step stool in order to get into bed! Anyhoo....the best sheets I have for the king size bed, are the ones that have the elastic all around on the flat sheet. My favorites are Chaps brand that I got at Kohls using a coupon. They fit perfectly
Also the two sets of polar fleece that I bought @ the Q. They also have the elastic on the flat sheet. Those I got on sale. Forgot to tell you, the new mattress is 13"
