I don't care for anything in this room or the room itself. 

 

But the colors are both bright and clean, as well as warm and soothing at the same time for me. I find the colors soothing without making me sleepy.

@wilma I agree with all of your sentiments about that room.  The gold touches date the room, and not in a good way.  I think the gold has to go, too. I love the architectural elements to the wall, but I would prefer to see them highlighted with a deep contrast color, in this case, blue, to offset the white trim.  Maybe a deep blue ceiling, too, just for fun.  The knickknacks on the built-in shelves should be blue and perhaps another deep accent color like emerald green, or simply lovely art glass pieces with mulitple colors, or perhaps even books with beautiful blue geode bookends.  I really cannot stand that chandelier; the teeny weenie crystals on it look silly in my opinion, and I am a rock hound.
