Check out Martha Stewert sheets here on the Q.  I received yesterday pretty pink set 300 thread count - cotton for $39 = Queen

Full screen of sheets with wide range of prices - prints and solids.  Mine were 40% off

Re: Bedding Woes

[ Edited ]

Crocil has always been my favorite for comforters.  They seem to go on forever through numerous launderings.

I don't think I've washed a mattress pad more than twice before it fell apart....any brand at any price.

The worst I've gotten was a set of sheets by Catherine Zeta-Jones.  She should be ashamed.

I ONLY buy 100% cotton bedding.  That also includes the batting in quilts.

I have had bedding for years.  It never wears out, with the exception of cotton sateen sheets.  Percal is much better.

Anything made with  poly will wear out and change color.  White bedding made with polyester will yellow and look dirty and ugly in no time at all. And, it will frey and tear.

I buy many brands, but I buy well made....only cotton

I have cotton sheets I got for a wedding gift.  I have been married almost 49 years and they're still in rotation.

There has to be some scientific explanation for our varying experiences.

-Different water composition in different locales? And how different laundry detergents combine with the water's chemistry?

-People who have pets vs. those that don't?

-Smokers vs. non-smokers?

-People who sweat a lot at night vs. those who don't?

-People who toss and turn vs. those who sleep like a lump?

Look for sheets made with long or extra long staple cotton.  No matter if the weave is percale or sateen, the sheets will not pill or shred.

Are you washing things in cold water, drying on no heat (and no fabric softener sheets)?

That's what preserves my clothes & bedding! Except I do use softening sheets on clothes.
