@pdlinda wrote:@Caffeina OK. I will do that.
One last question: I'll wash the mat alone. Should I use the water level as "small" or "medium?"
Again, thanks so much.
I keep mine on the precise fill setting. The bulky items setting automatically overrides that. This is from my instructions about the bulky items setting.

@pdlinda wrote:@rms1954 I have a question about washing bathmats. I tried to wash mine twice. I have a full-sized 2 yr-old GE washing machine.
In each case, the mat caused the rinse&spin cycle not to work properly.
I had to shut off the machine and lift the mat that was SOPPING WET and seemed to weigh a ton! Then, I had to dry it on towels. That took days!
I later read that it was very ill advised to use a home washer for bath mats. Instead it was advised to go to a commercial washing machine place. I have none of those in my area.
As a result, I VACUUM my bathroom every week to get the dust out and leave it at that.
I'd love to know how you wash your bath mat.
I have a very light weight memory foam bath mat I puchased at Bed Bath & Beyond---I curve it around the center and wash it in cold water on a regular normal cycle and air dry....and it dries fast

Yes, we use bath mats in all our bathrooms. safety first. Large 3'x2' for the bathtubs and smaller mats for the vanities and toilets. Have no problems washing them in the WM. Put it on Bulky and full water. Easy. When we moved in to our present home, previous owners had carpeting in one of the bathrooms. Disgusting. Mold and urine stains throughout. We ripped that up pronto!

Fantastic info. Thanks so much. I guess I never read the manual thoroughly.
I'm going to try washing the mat tomorrow. Hoping for the best. I'll report back with my results. Thanks, again!

I just put a non-skid bath mat down before I take a shower, then hang it to dry afterwards.

@gloriajean I'm THRILLED to report that I did exactly what @Caffeina suggested and, miraculously, the machine worked perfectly and the mat came out clean. Thank you, @Caffeina !!

I use one bath rug outside the shower due to falling hazard on the bare tile floor. Also one in front of each bathroom sink. Mine are about to need replacing amd am looking at the ruggable site. Check it out.
