FYI- I also love the word "decrapitating". I hope I can steal it too!

Re: Are any of you doing "minimalization?"

We are trying so hard to get rid of stuff.  Very hard to sell anything, no matter how expensive it was when I purchased it. Even some family heirloom furniture, no one else in the family wants. No responses on eBay.  I put a huge box of Fitz & Floyd porcelain, some Pottery barn silk curtain panels (still perfect, never used) and some blue and white porcelain lamps from Horchow in a neighbor's garage sale. Not a single thing sold even though I wanted two bucks apiece for things. Someone is going to hit the jackpot at the Goodwill store. The consignment shop near us closed during COVID and didn't reopen.
I hate to put things in the trash.

@Trailrun23

I find it so disappointing and perplexing that items if true value and quality do not interest either our children or others of that generation. IKEA and the like items find themselves n the trash in no time.

Parting with my items is taking such an effort. I know it must be done for my own good.  I regret so many purchases made with future in mind.  Oh well

Re: Are any of you doing "minimalization?"

If I'm giving anything away for free (I do sell sometimes too) that's furniture, I have 2 places I like to donate to, and get a tax receipt. If it's deemed too old or not in good enough shape for those places to resell, I put it out at the curb maybe a day or so before trash day. I've yet to call my trash people to add anything on their truck, as it usually disappears from the curb pretty quick! Slap the word "free" on anything and people appear like locusts!! lol
