Re: A Traditional 'Early American' Look...

I am not usually a fan of Early American, but I like these rooms. Most of it is not cheap kitschy, however, I would change the kitchen table and chairs. It looks too common.

Pretty. Reminds me of our neighbors' house where I used to babysit. I spent a lot of time there !  Good memories! And sweet boys. Smiley Happy

I grew up with that look.  My mother and all my aunts (uncles) homes were decorated in "Early American".   They loved "antiquing" and "auctioning" and some great pieces were to be had also with the help of Ethan Allen!

Some nice antiques - or reproductions.

For some reason, I get restless when there are this many accessories in a room-- even if they have an impeccable provenance.  A highly "edited" version of this would be pleasing to me.

Some of the individual pieces are lovely, and I like the creamy background.  My personal preference is just for a more spare, eclectic mix of both antique and modern elements...

For Early American, it's nice & bright.  I'm surprised because usually they're more dark & have smaller rooms.  I like most if it except some of the rooms are a tad too cluttered.  I do love the dining tables but not the dark built-in cabinetry.

It's a very nice welcoming home.  Looks like it's sized for entertaining.

@stevieb I have always liked early american and the fact they kept it light and brighter appeals to me. Take a few things off the walls and remove a few knick knacks and I'd be a very happy camper!

These rooms are very well done. The light walls and ceilings along with the woodwork give a wonderful balance to all the wood. I love the kitchen and some of the chairs are just delightful.

@jubilant  Like many of us, I grew up influenced by the Early American look and, like many of my generation as well as of the generation before mine, more or less discounted it, past a point. I have to say that in recent years I've begun to find elements of it very comforting and attractive once again. I'd probably not embrace the total look, which has changed somewhat since the incarnation many of us grew up with, but I am enjoying seeing a resurgence of some aspects of 'colonial' influences. I agree with you that these rooms have the potential to be quite attractive. They just need to pare them down a bit and do a little streamlining.

I have to say I like the kitchen, although I wouldn't have the pans hanging down. It reminds me a little of my grandparents farmhouse kitchen which is probably why it appeals to me.

I like the photo of the breakfront in the last photo, too. The wood is beautiful.
