1795 NOVA SCOTIA HOUSE AT CHRISTMAS

feature-Philip-Mitchell-9306-f_HH_NOV20_25.jpg

Old, 1795 house, and its on the Nova Scotia seacoast, I'm assuming.

The furniture is fabulous.  Really like that antique game table, at the ready for play before a window view, and juxtaposed with an old grandfather clock and modern sculpture!   But then, I usually like the mix of old and new...

My favorite room is the kitchen-- it has so much soul.  The floors alone, oh my goodness.

This seems like a real, working kitchen.  The violet stools are a fun surprise.  I like the nautical ceiling lights, and what looks like a charming breakfast nook with vintage style tufted seating!

I love the way they turned their magnificent collection of green majolica ware in the hutch into an instant Christmas decoration, just by adding red balls to the green!  (I'm going to do that in my 'poor woman's' fashion, with my new green pitchers, ha.)

A water view from the kitchen....

Ruby glass ware and roses at Christmas dinner...

Now, this sitting room below is the one room that is a little 'hectic' for my personal taste, yet it seems full of warmth and animation.  Just my quirk, I would have to calm it down, a little.   I do love the old chalkware Christmas lambs on the coffee table, and the glimpse of distressed tufted leather at the bottom of the image:

Even their art studio below takes on a holiday vibe-- love that.

Gorgeous powder room, and those fabric shades are beautiful.

I love this light-filled bedroom, with its antique mantel.

They have a wreath on every gate on the property...

.... Including their waterfront gate!

You can really feel the mellow age of this historic 18th century structure.  It feels lived in and loved.  The overall spirit of the house reminds me a bit of the warmth of Angela Lansbury's house in Cabot Cove!

Which makes sense, since Nova Scotia and Maine share a lot of similarities.

The wood floors and the water front are my favorite parts of this home....charming, comfortable, unpretentious.

Wow!  What a house, I love everything about it!   Especially that alcove with the rounded frame work and the hutch.   Yes @Oznell  instant Christmas decor, there you go!  Just beautiful.  Thanks for posting as usual Smiley Happy

I really like it all. Used to live on Harmon AFB in Newfoundland when I was a little kid. My youngest brother was born there.

I am loving all the texture. It's the first white kitchen that isn't too slick.

As a pluviophile, or lover of rain, I adore the way they've hung these crystals in the window. They look like raindrops. One day I may do the same in one of my windows.

It'll distract me from NOT having a water view!
