Hello fashion friends.

Even though I'm stuck wearing summer clothes for at least another four or five weeks, I've been working on early warm fall outfits. I took out my three lightest weight cashmere sweaters from storage and also spent several hours tweaking two new early fall pieces.

#1 One of my summer outfits I'm still wearing. This is a shorter, more fitted blouse than my usual summer uniform. I'm working on incorporating a few more fitted tops for variety (I prefer a looser, "breezier" fit)...

*Thrifted (a few years ago) Layfayette 148 purple checked cotton blouse. *Old Levi's true slim cotton jeans.  *Old American Leather Co bag and Bueno woven leather sandals.

Leather/rhinestones snap closure "cuff."

#2
*Thrifted Chico's linen shirt. My guess is this is an old-school Chico's linen (pre-no iron). It's very substantial, so much so that I'm going to wear it for early fall. It's comparable to an Irish linen jacket I have from Talbot's (thrifted). It rumples rather than wrinkles/creases (which I hate). Problem: I'm used to tops drooping off my wimpy shoulders, but this was ridiculous. I thought of returning it (eBay, $18ish w/S&H), but...I LOVE it. Long story short...even though I've never done it and certainly do not have the skill level, I took in the shoulders (twice...ripping out stitches at 2AM!). *Thrifted AG Harper jeans in black (eBay, $25ish w/S&H) cuffed to ankle length.  *Margo bag and Bueno perforated sandals.

Only if you're standing very close ("don't stand so, don't stand so, don't stand so close to me!") can you see a few places where the stitching isn't perfectly even.

#3 Yes, I know I've said I don't like to wear blouses as jackets, but this just begged for a black canvas, and the length works for a shacket-y look...

*Blouse and thrifted AG Harper indigo.  *Thrifted (eBay, $60ish w/S&H) black suede UGG boots.  *Old Calvin Klein mock neck elbow sleeve cotton top.  *Old LDO necklace.

#4  Example of what I was blahblahblahing about last week, i.e., what I want in lounge wear (at home, pull over bra, no chance of going out...rainy day, the Sabbath, lazy day, no make-up day haha).

*Thrifted (eBay, $20ish w/S&H) Temperley London cotton lounge set with satin collar...navy that actually looks navy (not navy-that-might-as-well-be-black).

Seller's pic...color is somewhere between these two pics.

I'm obviously becoming a big eBay fan! I can be logged in and shopping five minutes before I slog through the tedious Q log-in process, the pages stop bouncing and I "x" out of all the pop-ups.

Are you wearing fall clothes already?  Or are you preparing for fall...buying, examining your fall wardrobe, purging?

Hope all of you have a great week!

Re: What I Wore (w/e 9/2/23)...

@MacDuFF

Nice job on taking in a shoulder. I have never tried doing that sort of alteration. But you got me thinking I should give it a go.

I liked all of your outfits this week...particularly the heavier linen top. Most of my linen is 'vintage' ... as in late 80's ... and is the heavier kind that rumples.

Our weather in Seattle changed a bit the last 10 days and we are having cooler days. Not quite sweater weather, but I am moving to the transitional fabrics and colors. My linen is put away, as are all but one pair of white jeans. Boots are out, dusted, polished and ready to go.

I have my eye on a couple of new items, but waiting for a good sale before I pull the trigger to buy.

Re: What I Wore (w/e 9/2/23)...

@MacDuFF  Love your warm weather outfits this week. We're having a heatwave in E PA this week, so I'll be wearing capris & tees.

But, this week I bought Susan Graver's new faux leather blazer in cognac (a British tan) and an ivory hooded pullover sweater to wear under it - I'll pull the hood out to hang over the jacket.

It may be another month or so b4 I can wear them if summer hangs on longer.

I always feel good and comfortable in blouses and sweaters.  Your tops are very appealing !!!!!!!  I am still wearing my summer clothes but look forward to changing to cool weather wear.  When I put away the summer clothes, I do try to purge as I have entirely too much!!!!  Since I retired I have accumulated so many new tops and pants.  I guess if our clothes make us happy it is all good.  Thanks for the fashion show!

Re: What I Wore (w/e 9/2/23)...

@MacDuFF: Happy Labor Day!

I am especially liking your featured shirts this week. I commented previously on that awesome Lafayette 148 checked shirt. Anything found at thrift from that label is somewhat if a "unicorn". Waiting to find my first from the brand. Maybe this fall...

Just a couple of nice thrifted tanks this week: a NWT LDO gold tank to wear if needed under a shaker knit Old Navy cardi purchased last week and a Lands End 100% cotton black & white floral printed tank. Each flower has a green dot in the center, so I will be looking for something emerald green to wear over it.

Each tank was found on the summer clearance rack: 50 cents each.

My thrift stores should be transitioning to fall fashions this week, so I will be starting to check them out. My plan is to only succumb to items that I really need or really love, are high quality and of course in new or like new condition.

Possibly the hottest tempts of the summer forecast for this week, so summer dressing still going strong- not even thinking about a transition wardrobe yet.

I like your outfits. They look comfy, no fuss, nice and pulled together with little effort.

These are outfits I would wear.

Thanks for sharing. Happy Labor Day

@MacDuFF

Your transitional outfits look nice. I really like your navy lounge set! Looks very comfy!

It can be really hot here through September. For Labor Day Weekend our temperatures have been in the 90s. It's supposed to get cooler in a few days, but our weather can change quickly. It's times like this that make me glad that all my clothes are in one closet and 2 dressers in my bedroom. If it's warm I can easily grab something, and if it's cooler, I can easily grab something else.

I know it's old fashioned, but I won't be wearing my white jeans, pants, or shorts anymore this year. I like to save those items for Spring & Summer. I'm ready to move on to clothes for cooler weather, but since it's still warm, I will transition by wearing various colors, prints, and sleeve lengths with my medium wash jeans and black or navy trousers.

Wishing You and Your Family the Best!

Re: What I Wore (w/e 9/2/23)...

Good Morning @MacDuFF . Havin' a heat wave here in NJ, so I will be wearing the summer clothes well into late Sept/early Oct.

#1-I remember that purple checked blouse that reads brown in the picture. Either way, it looks nice with the white pants. To me checks just say "summer".

*Shout out to your leather bracelet. It's a stunner.

#2-I love the tones of blue and green in the striped Chico's top. Extra points for taking in the shoulders (twice) to make it fit. I also like the top over your black turtleneck.

I won't be changing over closets for a while. As soon as I start putting shorts and tees in the attic, it will get warm again. Murphy's Law.

Have a great day and stay cool.

All looks are great!  However, I'm really drawn to the blouse worn in #2 and #3 and I like how you wore it and styled it differently in both.  Your lounger set looks comfy too!

Re: What I Wore (w/e 9/2/23)...

I don't believe that I've ever seen a purple checked blouse/shirt before.  What a nice color in checked fabric!

(Yours reads brown on my laptop.)

Now I'm going to web search purple checked tops/shirts/blouses........

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
