Re: What I Wore 7/14/24...

[ Edited ]

@MacDuFF

You look very nice in your outfits!

No, I don't wear sweaters on my shoulders or tied around my waist as "bunwarmers".

I rarely see people wearing sweaters around their shoulders in real life, even though it seems popular on models. Personally, it would bother me to have that hanging on my upper body. I'm sure it wouldn't stay in place either which would drive me crazy.

I rarely did it, but yes, I have definitely seen sweaters, hoodies, sweatshirts, etc. tied around the waist. It was a popular look when we were in high school and college. It was more to be hands free than keep warm.

We've had a few scorchers in Kentucky this summer. We had mid to upper 90s a few weeks ago, and we're getting that again now. With humidity it feels like it's over 100. I know it's not as bad as some other places.

I don't plan outdoor activities on days like this. I stay inside my air conditioned house. If I have to go out, I try to do that in the morning when it's not as bad. I might wear long pants and take a lightweight jacket or cardigan if I'm going somewhere air conditioned. I also wear shorts, tees, knee length skirts and dresses, and jeans in the summer. It just depends on where I'm going.

I Hope Everyone has a Good Week!

I think it is unanimous everyone wants your black gauze dress.  Actually I have in the past tied a hoodie around my waist if it became too warm in the room,  found it easier than carrying it.

LOVE love love the dress in #2.  The way you did the necklaces is wonderful too.  Could be talked into the flip flops and purse too.

You look lovely in everything but I am with the majority in that you absolutely rock in the #2 black gauze dress. I would wear it every day.

I don't have a summer uniform but I have several "Attitudes" long maxi dresses I got for a steal and have been wearing them quite a bit.

Am I imagining.......were bum-warmers popular at one time?

I'm visualizing wearing them over tights, maybe after a gym workout.

I can see a reason to wear them.

I'm one who doesn't like peeps looking at my butt-om.

So, I just might wear a cover-up like this one.

Usually folks just wrap a sweater around their 'buttoms'.  I've done this before, when the weather turned warmer than expected and while on a walk.  I removed my pullover or cardigan and wrapped it around my 'buttom'.

Btw, 'buttom' is a word that I invented several days ago in another previous thread.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

@MacDuFF   I really like all of your outfits, but the black gauze dress, I like the best.

To me dresses are the most comfortable things to wear on hot summer days. I have a collection of Stan Herman casual dresses

and caftans that I wear at home.

I also have seven casual gauze dresses to wear if I go out.

I love color in the summer and I never wear black near my face.

It makes me look like Morticia.

With your coloring, black looks lovely..

On cooler days, I will wear crop or ankle pants and a nice top.

Never have I ever worn a sweater tied over my shoulders

or around my waist. I will wear a jacket or cardigan, if needed.

I have worn  kimono style toppers, for a BoHo look.

Here's hoping Q's rinky-dink notifications are working 😠🤬...

❤️ Thank you  @happilyretiredgirl   @QVCkitty1   @Q-Checker      @AngelPuppy1    @shoptilyadropagain   @Still Raining   @DSD2  and @Enufstuff

@kate2357   You must have lots and lots of tanks! 😁

Thanks @spiderw    I'm with you on loose, comfortable outfits in summer, and I love my crops 'n tops, too.

Thank you @foxywoods   Interesting bit of fashion history!  Welcome to the boards.

@Lisa Y    Yes, just give me cool and comfy from May to October, please!   I have one pair of board shorts...have been sorely tempted to cut off a pair of jeans, though.

Thanks @wilma    I hear ya...fiddling with a sweater around my shoulders would annoy me 😖, and I'd just feel silly because it's not authentically me.  😉

@Terrywu, y'all would have to pry that black gauze dress out of my hands! 😆

@ROMARY    Yes, I've seen lots of women at the gym wearing bumwarmers.  Not that I was actually  at the gym, but when I'd be people watching on the outside bench eating a jelly filled donut or two.  I say we rename it to "buttom" warmer 😆.

BTW, my biggest problem with the black gauze dress is what bag to carry.   Whenever I change up an established outfit (for lack of a better phrase), I take another pic to get a better look at it than I get from my mirror.    I don't like the straw bag in the pic at all.   All the danged summer handbags I own, and not one of them work!   I have a black leather crossbody bag winging it's way to me from eBay, which I've been wanting anyway and which I can use for this dress as well as for other summer outfits (and other seasons).

Thanks again to all.
luv ya bye.gif
