This is a definite "nay" for me and my body type.  I think it would look good on someone tall and slender though.

Also, I think the material to be a little heavy looking.  If I were to wear velvet, I'd do it in a skirt, maybe, but not a full-length dress.

I can actually see that with a pair of embroidered or studded cowboy boots and  several pieces of weightier pieces of sterling chains and bangles.

However, I would love a classic crushed velvet long shirt with some beautiful buttons to wear for the holidays over slim pants. Perfect when entertaining or relaxing with friends/family but you still want something nice to wear.

It's a no for me. I love the color, but the dress would completely swallow me. There's just too much of it.

JMO: I love velvet and crushed velvet, but this is too much of a good thing. I will take my velvet in a top, flowy jacket ot pants.
