Re: Talbot's New Spring Clothes

So I was at another T's today.  My regular sales person told me they are rolling out tons of  spring clothes (many more than are already out) on Tuesday and she urged me to stop in because it will be 25% off my entire purchase (I assume she meant spring purchase - full price items).   I commented that that wasn't enough percentage off for me; that by the time I got to actually wear these clothes in warmer weather, they'll be cheaper than 25% off.   Her reply was to come in and have fun and try things on anyway. Good sales tactic - hard to just walk away from things you like!

FYI @gidgetgh   @jonbon   @KathyPet and other Talbot's regulars.   25% off your purchase on Tuesday - at least in store.

@Pearlee- lots of new things on their site this morning.  I only had a minute to look, but one sweater is already calling my name.  It's the Soiree Paisley Sweater.  It looks like it is SO me that it should have had a tag with my name on it in the picture.  I love pink and this has lots of different pinks.  Hope I like it in person.

I'm going to look more later.  I've got 2 rewards certficates available on the 20th and combine with the 25% off.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@gidgetgh   25% off is not enough off for me!    Esp. when shortly thereafter we'll get a 40% off one item coupon!  You know me.....and I too have rewards!

Re: Talbot's New Spring Clothes

@Pearlee- I have something to return so I'm going to head over to Talbots in a few minutes to take a look and see if any of them are on yet. I was able to go back and look at the new arrivals online and took screen shots of 5-6 tops that I might be interested in.

It's hard for me to order online now as I'm in between a large and extra large.

Thanks for the inside info -- I figured we were due for another "deal" of some sort! I mostly order online (and then return at my local store) because I don't make it to the mall that often. But when I do go in, even if there's no current sale, I try on anything I might be interested in at a later date that they actually have in the store. That way, I'm prepared for a big online order when a sale comes along -- I've checked the fit/sizing, examined the colors/prints, touched the fabrics, or, in some cases, realized that something just doesn't work for me. It helps a bit to decrease the number of returns I have to make later.

I was at my local store yesterday afternoon, and they had lots of new things out already (even in the petites section, which often gets rolled out after they've done the misses). Black and deep coral-y pink (pink grapefruit and cactus rose) seemed to be the featured colors, and there were many things to check out!

Re: Talbot's New Spring Clothes

@jonbon  It's always much better to be able to try on the clothes, esp. before ordering online so you are doing the smart thing.

Just two examples:  the poppy charming cardi looks great on me!  It's not my style or print at all, but once I tried it on after @gidgetgh  mentioned it, it was so flattering, but the style and the colors!  I would never have given it a second look until I tried it on!

Just the opposite with the anchor sweater!  I really like it and love the tastefully-done rhinestone anchors.  But it looked bad on me - it wasn't a good fit at all (i'm often between med. and large in T's clothing so I really have to try them on!).  Something about that sweater just doesn't work on me although I still admire it every time I go into T's and see it on the mannequin and how the anchors sparkle in the sunlgiht.

At any rate yes, trying on is indeed best.   There can always be "surprises" - both good and bad!

Re: Talbot's New Spring Clothes

I stopped by the store closest to me this morning. I tried a few things on and didn't care for them. I did like the soirée Paisley sweater. Some of the other things I'd taken a screen shot of were either still in opened boxes in the back or not in yet.

I was surprised to see that all the clearance items were still there. I thought that Monday of this week was their last day.

@gidgetgh  I was told the clearance items would be there (by one of the clerks in the store) through til the first few days in March (she named the date but I can't remember it now - 3rd?  5th? something like that).  That comports with what the manager of that store had told me earlier, that they clearance clothes would be in stores throughout February.

Re: Talbot's New Spring Clothes

@Pearlee- I was just thinking back to @KathyPet post from 2/10 telling us about the sale stuff being pulled after Monday.

Now, not till March?  I don't even go to the clearance section anymore. I feel like I know those clothes by heart by now, LOL. Time to get them out of there.

Got the new catalog today with the 25% off total purchase starting 2/21.
