I have wide shoulders and generally don't need shoulder pads, but I occasionally will put them in an oversized sweater or long cardigan to give it a better "balance."

I've saved all those removable pads that SG used to put in her shirts.  I have bags of them and the "hook" side of the Velcro is just perfect to use on a sweater since it sticks to the knit and doesn't cause pilling if I"m careful removing it.

I have a whole plastic shoe box size box of shoulder pads from various clothing items over the years.  Also have some new store bought ones as well as stuff to make my own.  I am ready for the shoulder pad revolution!  We used to joke about shoulder pads and Sue Ellen on Dallas.  Whenever someone had a really obvious set of the giant ones she would be called Sue Ellen.  Some of the Simonton and Mackie clothes still come with small ones.  Linea stuff too.

@ceekay  Ah, the 80's! Where on the nighttime soaps, the shoulder pads entered the room before the actress did. 😜

My customized walk-in clothing closet was totally full - so a few weeks ago, I looked thru my short-sleeved tops (on the lower rack) - and tossed out 13 tops - several with shoulder pads. I'm the one who can't throw things out --- then I realized all these tops were around 25 yrs old.

My clothes are in perfect condition ---- but they had their life.

Yesterday, I just happened to turn on the Q - and saw the presentation of Isaac Mizrahi's Mock Neck Tops, A296829 - hosted by the female with the British (?) accent. Last October, I purchased 3 colors --- and I LOVE this top. I just ordered the other 3 colors: spice gold, brick brown and black - reduced price of $24.96. I have an addiction to short-sleeve, 3/4 sleeve and long sleeve tops --- in lots of colors.

I'm only 4'10,135 lbs. and wear size medium. This top isn't tunic length - but a little shorter and has a flaired bottom. I also like the mock neck because it's not high on my short neck. 100% cotton. I couldn't resist.

Not comfortable with them.  I do have some in older clothes and when I have time on my hands I simply remove them.

I have found shoulder pads at Jo Ann's but they are to be built into a garment when it is made and are just not what I need now to just add some lift. I do miss Kathleen's!

Some women scan the Goodwill and other thrift stores for old clothing just for the shoulder pads. I once bought a moth-eaten full length wool coat just for the exquisite buttons. They don't make them like that anymore. I repurpose them in all sorts of ways.
