Re: PUMPKIN PICKING TIME ALREADY? ๐ŸŽƒ

Back when we did go pumpkin picking it was in a field. I wore old jeans , a sweatshirt and sneakers. It's a field people ! Nowadays it's a bin at the supermarket, no special outfit required. LOL. ๐ŸŽƒ

I just don't see anything funny or bizarre about talking about pumpking picking in the fall.  It's what people do along with football, tailgateing, Halloween, carnivals, fairs and all such things.  What's the big whoop about it?  I don't get it.

I always go pumpkin picking whether at the church pumpkin patch, the grocery store or where ever I find them.  Don't you pick out your pumpkin?

I can't stand anything pumpkin spice flavored, so that just goes in one ear and out the other for me.

@Sooner Didnโ€™t mean to offend. Found it strange that Jane would mention it 2 months early.

Autumn is a very big deal here. Cidermills are packed on the weekends, and  fresh donuts abound ,and yes they sell pumpkins

These are business ,and if they wait until halloween to sell things  they would go broke..

Re: PUMPKIN PICKING TIME ALREADY? ๐ŸŽƒ

There are a lot of apple & pumpkin picking events where I live. Years ago when I worked at a nursing home, we took a group of residents to a local orchard. We went on a hayride, picked apples, and drank cider. It was a lot of fun. But it was warm - no wearing any new fall clothes along with a $200 purse! Woman LOL I had to wear my "activities assistant uniform" - red shirt and khaki pants. We looked like Target team members.

@Shanus  Well, to me it's 2 WEEKS ealy because I'm on the lookout for pumpkins the moment September rolls around!  I always want to be the first with one in the yard.

I think what's funny about it is the way the hosts use it as a sales tactic for clothing, year after year after year. At this point it could be a drinking game, at this point some of them might be saying it as an inside joke.

Do people honestly shop for specific pumpkin picking outfits? If they do well all power to them. I've never been pumpkin picking in my life, but laughing at the constant mention of it by QVC isn't laughing at anyone who enjoys doing it. I buy them at a farm stand or grocery store.

She uses that phrase every year once it hits August. I really don't think anyone plans an outfit to do that.

No, of course it's not uncommon at all. But having just the right outfit makes me laugh.

It just doesn't bother me, maybe because I know a fair number of people who actually do go pumpkin picking. Same with apple picking -- in certain areas, it's not uncommon.

I agree - I've been pumpkin picking , as well as blackberry, strawberry , tomato, and apple picking. They usually take you out to the fields on a hay ride.

We head to one farm market in fall to buy pumpkins. I wear jeans and a sweatshirt. No handbg, just a wallet.
