Re: Need to vent about prices!!

I agree - I've found that the most with Denim & Co. items and Susan Graver.

Re: Need to vent about prices!!

@BullyeyeI agree with you.  Logo is out of their mind and I read on this board that the fabrics used or cheap and flimsy.  Susan's clothes are too high for polyester but women buy it (not me).  I actully do not purchase from either one.  With all the crazy hemlines and shark bites it is a definite no, thank you.  Even Denim & Co. prices are up and that is suppose to be the Q's house brand.  I won't pay but some women continue to purchase.  Cat Very Happy

Re: Need to vent about prices!!

Interesting aside.  I was flipping channels this morning and came across the Jones NY show in HSN.  While the pricing was the same, the styles were very much as I remembered the real JNY to be when I purchased this line in department stores.

They had some really, really cute stuff.  I will be interested to read the reviews on the quality.  But this was definitely not even remotely close to anything sold under this name on QVC.

Re: Need to vent about prices!!

I have a few butter knit tees that I like and have washed and worn many times, so the value is there for ME. I also have 2 pair of SG black dress pants, Milano knit that wash and wear well. My wedding and funeral pants. My size does not change so these will last the rest of my life.

Cotton tee's I find LLBEAN Pima to be the best style and value for ME. They fit my lifestyle.

I do not buy trendy stuff no matter the cost.

Ankle boots-I buy leather paddock boots at a tack shop, about 60.00 and they last several years.

Yes, I can afford alot more than I spend but my needs are met so why would I.

Re: Need to vent about prices!!

@Bullyeye I agree with your post. I have not been shopping from the Q nearly as long as you, but even in the last 10 years I have seen costs jumping, including D&C as well.  I have been breaking off my spending at the Q on clothing, and searching elsewhere.  Many times you can get free shipping and returns, coupons, and other savings avenues from the B&M stores online.  I do not see the actual stores themselves overwhelmed with shoppers so my guess, they are trying to attract new customers, and KEEP, their long standing customers by offering frequent sales and savings opportunities.  I do not see the Q doing that.  Even HSN sends out their VIP coupons for your birthday, Valentine's, almost every holiday and even when there is nothing special they send out codes. That is how you keep your customers and build new relationships with new ones.  The Q offering a "surprise" easy pay from 1-3pm on a Friday is crazy.  Many people have jobs, doctor's appointments, commitments with their children, or community projects.  They know many people are not going to use this because they are not sitting at their computer all day long waiting for this pop-up surprise, but they can say they offer the savings.  Also, I have to laugh at the offer of a $5 savings on your first order for a first time customer.  That is bascially free shipping, whoop de doo! Smiley Indifferent

Re: Need to vent about prices!!

Thought this was cute for the summer...

Belle by Kim Gravel Grommet Shirt  A289018

It's a cotton top with a side tie, box shaped, fabric similar to Quacker Factory paid $36   worth about $20  (I'm sure that will be the price on a lunchtime special)  You know I thought about it before I ordered it, it's different, it's a beautiful pink and I probably won't find it in the stores so it is what it is.   Paying for the Q's overhead, salaries, warehousing etc. and yes, everything is getting pretty expensive but not as much as that huge markup of Melissa's Flowy Heart open Flyaway that i commented on yesterday, that was a $1 rag that HSN was charging $89.

[ Edited ]

Over President's Day weekend I purchased two cotton/modal tops and a pair of capri's for $38. They had a huge sale and with online coupons, The Capri's are Petite so they will be the length they're supposed to be, not regulars "they will fit everybody it doesn't matter where they fall" the Q sells.

Everybody should expect "deals" for President's Day.

Ooooops, got them at Belk's. Love Belks!

Re: Need to vent about prices!!

You should check out the new Coldwater Creek Catatlog. I never bought from them, but they just sent me a catalog and the clothing looks exactly like Susan Graver 75% and Denim & Co. and their prices are probably 30 to 40 % highter than QVC's for polyester, ect.

Re: Need to vent about prices!!

Pat DiMentri used to say "$20 bill alert" quite often, referring to items priced at that amount or less. I hardly watch the Q these days, but l imagine she's not saying that anymore. $50 bill alert is more like it!  Woman Frustrated

Re: Need to vent about prices!!

The quality has gotten to be discount store quality.  And the prices in addition to the shipping is ridiculous.  I was a Denim & Co. Customer for years. I haven't bought anything from them in years.
