Remember those Yardley of London ads (like the one below featuring Jean Shrimpton)? Carnaby Street ruled!
Loved the 60's....probably one of my favorite decades for fashion. I just noticed Colleen Corby in one of the posts. She was always a wonderful model.

Did you see the price on the Leisure Suit from Penny's??? 30 bucks for panta, jacket and the skirt!!! That was like a quarter of a weeks pay back then though!

Has anyone told Shawn about the Slicker Shades??? Boy I remember those lipsticks and used them then too.... until I found out that they used a touch of arsnic in the formula. I'm sure they don't now... but it stopped my "death lip" habit....

Shoekitty, I DID notice the pricing... can you belive it? Of course $20 bucks meant a whole lot more back then than it does now....

Yes 20 bucks was alot! I remember in 1967 and 1968 I could buy a weeks groceries for my husband and myself, and cat food for 12 to 13 dollars. We had meat every night. Mind you by shopping day the next week, not a drop was left of anything! In those days you could go to butcher, and get exactly what you needed. If I needed 5 slices of thick bologna...that is what I bought! No waste.

Thank you, Rose, and yes to (mostly, LOL) remembering the 1960's fashions hair, makeup, looks, and those Yardley of London ads.
I was also a child of the 60's (born in 1963), so I probably wasn't paying enough attention to the above, though.
I mentioned this earlier, but I'd like to start a thread of the 1970's fashions, etc. - a coming of age (childhood-into-teen) period for many of us.
I know that some think it was the worst decade in fashion, but I did like a lot of it.
Thanks for posting that fab ad (those eyes of hers!).

Oh, I ate, slept and breathed Yardley - anything Yardley! And Jean Shrimpton was my idol. I had a picture of her on my wall with the caption "The London Look." Those were the days, my friend. Loving this thread!
ETA Forgot to say that I had that slicker hat, too, lol.

Thanks for pointing this out. I knew that I recognized her, but couldn't remember her name.

I don't think I was into slickers, but wow so many women I knew were! They were huge! They were sold in every corner drug store! Of course back then that is where most women bought cosmetics! Remember those drugstore make-up counters? A nice lady would come when you wanted to see something and help you!

That round bottle of perfume on right side of counter looks so familiar! Does anyone know what it is? Coty? Intimate? Shalimar?
