I see no reason not to tell the truth here, because hopefully no one will ever know who I am. In fact, sometimes I feel that I share more of the truth about me and my life than I should. I will never know if anyone on the boards is lying about themselves, so I don't worry about that.

However, it's a different story when they knowingly lie about me and what I've posted, accuse me of lying, and twist my words to mean something other than what I meant or said... then I wouldn't trust what they say about anything else. And I have had that happen, more than once, by the same poster.

Who cares if they are fake?? Only a woman would worry about this. Didn't you realize everyone on here is a rocket scientist with a PhD? If you see a helpful post, just concentrate on that. Otherwise, just move on.

I've never given this much thought before either, makes no sense to lie or embellish on a forum. Good grief. But I guess some people do, just as in real life. Have no idea why they do that either. I would think that being anonymous on a forum would actually have the opposite effect and that posters would feel more comfortable being open and honest. When I was growing up there were few things my parents detested more than a liar or a thief. They used to have this saying, "(x person) would tell a lie when the truth sounded better". Haha. Everyone has told a little white lie here or there or growing up, but just to fabricate something flat out or be deceptive is pretty creepy.

Your accusation is probably true to some extent. But It doesn't really matter to me. The Boards, for the most part, have been very informative on many levels and entertaining. After all, it takes all kinds.

For many I don't think it's so much that they really care deeply if someone is a fake persona, making up drama, or a poster with multiple nics, previously banned or otherwise. The person is going to keep doing what they're doing regardless. But people don't want the "fakes" to believe they're getting away with it and that no one knows, they're so clever, etc., so they question and call-out.
