But there are better things to do, in my opinion, than cast aspersions. And Isaac does just that with his compassion, humanity and gentility. It is clear that he and Shawn are very close friends and colleagues.
How is Isaac casting aspersions?
That sentence was referring to the OP. The remainder of the paragraph was to illustrate how Isaac rises above that behavior.

What I cannot stomach nor can I watch any longer (and will switch the channel) is when Dennis Basso comes on with her. OMG he is all over her and so obnoxious and vulgar. Now that, in my opinion, is a man with no class. He is brash and crude. Isaac is a very gentle man and does do a lot of charity work which I admire him for.
Unfortunately, I witnessed this the other night on her show, and Shawn was truly grace under pressure. She had to maintain her boundaries while being polite to Basso. Very uncomfortable to watch and I felt protective of her at that moment.
Oh, Please. Grace? You felt protective? Cringing.

That's not a gentle post, but I'll answer. I was a school teacher for 24 years and a mom as well. Very involved in the day to day socialization and teaching of young girls and boys, as well as the broader version.
How can we live in this world and not take note of how we maintain our boundaries to ourselves and each other. I mentored and worked hard to educate kids about social responsibility. The classroom is a microcosm of the larger world.
So yes, when I see anyone being taken advantage of or played, it presses the button. See it in politics, at work, at play, and in this case, on a live broadcast.
I don't fall apart or bend with every wind that comes my way, but I do shake my head at that bad behavior. Basso was, to quote another poster, gross.

AG, you speak some of the most insightful words. Teachers are amazing people and so are you. My daughter is a teacher and she just finished her first year of teaching. She has taught me so much through her experience. I am in awe of her.
I don't know how you maintain you're composure sometimes, but you seem to be very centered and able to keep a level head (when others, like myself, would with a defensive mechanism.) I admire you.

Amazinggrace, I have great respect for all teachers. Our son and his wife are both teachers.
Your posts are wonderful and very well stated.
Thank-You for your service.

Sparkle, ty so much for your kind words and right back at you with admiration. That you can learn from your daughter is a gift that we as parents take note. My son has taught me so much about life and it's humbling to parent, isn't it?
Kudos to your daughter finishing her first year of teaching, oh my! That was like boot camp for me and I can still remember coming home from school on some days vowing never to return, lol.
I'm so glad that I've joined the boards. There is alot of wry humor and smarts here.

Wow, Golden, a family of teachers, lol! Thank you very much for passing such good spirit to me and I know that your son and his wife must appreciate your support greatly.
I love your name---is it from the song? We must both be boomers, then!
(And I have golden hair, but it's from a bottle. Does that count?)

On 3/24/2015 A Walker said: The one comment I read over on Shawn's FB page which made me really think though, paraphrased, is Dennis is a close personal friend of Shawn's. She has stated numerous times that he made her wedding dress, she visits him at his store, she loves and drools over his clothes, AND (and this is important) she invites him to her Monday night PMS show weekly because he is always welcome as her guest of honor! Now, we all know, she calls the shots and has her faves on all the time. If she were uncomfortable with his behavior, since they are that close as she says, you know she would say something to him or simply not invite him on every single week! So I am torn between what is reality with her once again because she DOES tell us she adores him! So perhaps his behavior doesn't bother her or we are all reading it wrong? I just don't know but that is what she says and she wouldn't say those sweet things about someone she didn't like. She would simply sell his clothes.
Those are great points and I wonder if in addition to all of the above, Basso just doesn't get it that his on air persona just pushes the envelope at times. I've seen him do the same tp LR in the past, and she 'handled' it like Shawn did. They may see him as a 'character' and just roll with it. But it's uncomfortable to watch, and I don't think it's enjoyed. Vast majority of viewers are women.

Thank you for your response. We just found out yesterday that she's been accepted at the local State university in our capital city to join their 4-year doctorate program so when she finishes she will have her Ph.D.!!!! I am so proud of her initiative and determination.
