We hear you! I am trying something new this fall. I have decided to only buy 5 to 10 new items to update my wardrobe I have bought: one pair Clarks tall black boots, one quilted navy parka from Lands End, one Denim and Co. "Chico's inspired" moss green tab-sleeved top, one pair Chico's ponte knit black slim pants, one pair Chico's jeggings, and one pair of Chico's so slimming slim leg jeans. That is seven items that leaves only 3 items until Christmas so I must be descriminating! I am only going to buy items that will really update my wardrobe and I am determined to wear the heck out of them. I continually rid clothes from my closet that don't fit or are "tired" or have stains on them. My closet is much more paired down and it is a really freeing feeling.

Edited: I forgot the Susan Graver cardigan TSV in merlot that I bought and the marvelush TSV in Teal. So that leaves only one more item for my fall wardrobe! I want to get a tunic sweater to wear with the jeggings.

I think a lot of us are in the exact same position (except that I don't buy multiples)- I just located a entire bin of clothing in the attic that I had completely forgotten that I had-Some pieces with tags. I have lots (too many) things that I have only worn once or not at all. I have way too many things (that I spend too much $$$ on) and not enough storage. I have loads of expensive purses and only carried about 20% of them over the past year. I forget what I have (they are hanging or stored in various closets)and I own (because I LOVE them) lots of jackets/coats that I have gone seasons w/out wearing. I have purged a zillion times and need to do it again. The problem is, I love most of what I own now.

kimsu1 What I meant was I really love clothes but hate the drudgery of going into stores. Now due to chronic illness stores are too exhausting. But I was always like that. My mother and aunt, two beautifully dressed women, were the same way. So I shopped boutiques and had more expensive clothes but just enough.

So all of a sudden I discovered QVC. I could shop and have things delivered. It was my first addiction; I made it to fifty without one.

This summer I bought more than I needed because I have this fear that cotton clothes will disappear. O.K. That's done. Also, I'm a sucker for nightgowns marked down because they're so expensive. That's done.

Jewelry: mostly Linea and costume. If my few Joan Rivers waitlist come in, that's done.

My goal: not to buy any clothes, jewelry for a month. Anything!

I somehow managed to conquer my cosmetics and toiletry problem. I'm pitching and organizing that now.

The best place for me to put my money into is my hair! When I have good hair days it doesn't matter what I wear.

There are worse addictions.

Thanks girls! I just cancelled an item I ordered yesterday morning. It was a Linea cardigan in mostly polyester, which would be too warm for me anyway. It feels good to cancel. I can be a spender, especially when there isn't much going on in my personal life. It must give me a serotonin rush. I find that I get obsessed with things and convince myself I must have them. It happens a lot with jewelry. Then once I've made the purchase, I don't care that much anymore. Or, sometimes I go to the mall (my weekend is not complete without it) then after walking around a little, I wonder why I'm there. I need a new hobby.

lavendar - wanted to apologize for the questions marks at the end of my post! My 'emotion' icon (smile) didn't work and turned into question marks lol! No need to explain :-), but I really enjoyed reading your post here anyway. I'm hoping I have a grip on the cosmetics thing. Just put 2 jackets in a QVC box to send back (thanks for inspiration) because I just don't need MORE jackets. Wow, 30 days with nothing, that's a challenge! I'm not ready for that one yet. I discovered QVC just by accident. I was spending so much time returning items to b&m stores because I hated spending the time to browse, and try things on. I decided to try some things from QVC and the rest is history. I shop very little from mall shops anymore. No real reason other than to quote you "drudgery". Thanks for inspiring us to clean house :-)
