Big Hand Bag, Small Hand Bag, NO Hand Bag?

I have always been a BIG hand bag lady. My Mother always carried a big hand bag. I suppose I got the big hand bag gene from Her! I use a tote bag year round...different colors for different seasons. I NEED my STUFF with me at all times.

I have tried to downsize to a small hand bag....it never works for me.

My hand bag is sort of like my personal secretary....it can take care of me in any emergency. My hand bag is not really a fashion statement, but, more of a necessity of need when I leave home.

Small only for me. Nothing more than about 10 x 8-9 for me. I don't want or need to carry that much stuff with me. I only carry a wallet, phone, sunglasses and keys. I don't like totes, or the satchel bags. Way to big. I don't want to be digging in the bottom of a bag for stuff I use only occasionally.

@SeaMaiden I totally agree. I have no relative within 2,000 miles.....and I am prepared in case of an accident, or a physical challenge while out of the house. I have all my personal and insurance id's, auto information, a list of my contacts, etc.

I also have ALLERGIES....so have plenty of Kleenex, antihistimines, etc. I have switched to Baggallini purses to "lighten the load", tho! di

Small bag for me. But when I need it, I carry a big tote-style bag for the kitchen sink and all.

I have tried to carry a small one but I always get frustrated trying to get everything in it.

Even though I don't always use everything but the kitchen sink in my purse, I want to have it with me-scissors, bandaids. wipes, napkins need I go on lol?!

I would say my preference falls into the medium size. I don't carry a whole lot in my purse but a small bag isn't big enough and I hate digging around a large purse trying to find something.

I've transitioned into a crossbody bag, but most of them are too small. I'm always on the lookout for a crossbody large enough for what I need . My latest Vince Camuto is just about right.

I don't take any handbag to stores - just put my thin card case/wallet in my pocket but when I worked or want my stuff then it is a huge one. I even have large bags for more dressy occasions. Why bother with a puny bag when you can't really put much in it?? It's funny how those that make fun of my huge bag all always coming to me when they need something not in their teeny bags.
