Yesterday he found that many of his Contacts have disappeared.  When I call him my name does not come-up just the number is displayed.  When you search his contacts I am gone, no phone, email, etc.  So far we have found about 30 contacts are gone.

@Abrowneyegirl Tell your DH to hold the home button down and the power key at the same time to reboot the phone. You will see the Apple logo come on. Then go into contacts and they should be there again.

Have you checked to make sure that some of the contact groups haven't been unchecked? You can choose what contacts you want to show. They might just be hidden. I don't know though, I've had various iphone models for 8-9 years now and I've never had an issue.
