iPhone, iPad, and iPod users can now download the latest version of iOS 7. Expect slow download times today until traffic clears out somewhat.
Back your your device to iCloud or iTunes on your computer before downloading any update in case something wonky happens.

Thanks! I never try on the first day because of the stress on the system. I'll try later this week and let my parents know about it. My dad has an iPhone 4S, so I'm happy to read that 7.1 has improved performance on those models.

Not available for download on my phone yet. I read about the updates - some nice improvements. Thanks!

Once you backup your iPad to your computer using the USB cable, you can change the setting in iTunes to synch wirelessly.

You can force it to look for updates, depending on which iOS you have now. Mine didn't show up in Software Updates until I forced it to do a check, but I can't download it here because I'm not on a Wi-Fi network now. I'll wait until tomorrow, anyway, especially if I do it without docking.

Thanks for the thread, Chalk! I second the reminder to perform a complete backup before all updates.
I downloaded the new release earlier today on my iPad. I’ll update my iPhone in a few minutes.
Even though, as gidgetgoeshawaiian said, the time estimate first said 9 minutes, then said 1 hour, it actually took 16 minutes for the download and preparing update; then, 1 minute to verify update; about 9 minutes for the shutdown/installation/restart. A total of about 26 minutes from start to finish. (Note: the time required will vary depending upon a number of factors - I wanted to provide my experience as an example.)
As Lynnj mentioned, it did automatically turn Bluetooth on. So far, I’ve had no problems, all data/photos/videos/contacts/email/calendar entries/etc. appear intact.
