Re: haier tablet disappointment

Purchased the Haier 9"" android tablet and had trouble right out of the box. Charged it 100% and followed instructions. Tablet did not respond to commands and wireless took forever to connect and then only worked part time. Instruction book is less than adequate and even when followed the tablet fails. The manual also has the wrong phone # for tech support. I have places 5 calls (each with a 1/2 hour wait before being connected) 3 to Haier and 2 to QVC. End result was to send back for a refund. Very unhappy with both companies and will not buy from QVC again. To much hassle getting issues resolved. I should have known that you only get what you pay for.

Re: haier tablet disappointment

I've had my tablet for a week now and really enjoying it. I sat down and read the instruction booklet and have to admit I was puzzled with how it powered up. It took a couple of tries but when I realized my 3 seconds weren't the same as the books 3 seconds (lol) I haven't had any more problems with that. Splash screen takes too long but it has a fast boot mode you can use. Had problems with screen turning off often, found in the display settings it was timed to sleep after 30 seconds so I changed it to 10 mins to give me enough time to play around. I proceeded to customizing it to my liking. It updated itself on all the apps. Some apps I didn't want so I went to the play store and had those updates uninstalled. Then I unchecked it to stop auto updating and notify me instead. Had no problems connecting to my home wifi. Didn't take but maybe 3 or 4 hours to fully charge but as I was customizing it the battery drained pretty quickly. Now that I have it the way I like, the battery last up to 8 hours depending on what I'm doing. I like the fact that I can add other users and they have their own custom settings something the Galaxy Note 10.1 I returned didn't have. It also plays flash videos when I'm on Facebook and other sites, something the Galaxy couldn't do because it didn't support the flash player. It has a Daydream setting that keeps it from going to sleep when charging or docking and I downloaded an app that gives it a screensaver with clock and notifications, with a better dimmer setting. Changed the font size, updated the browsers, and now love the overall look and feel of the webpages. It does support javascript and I'm sure it makes pages load slower because when turned off they load faster but pics are out of place. I don't have javascript turned on my laptop anymore. Trying to decide on the best video chat app to put on it. Pictures from camera are decent and I don't intend to make large prints from them, already have a decent phone and stand alone camera for that. Overall, I'm satisfied with it for the price. It does what I want it to do. Just need to find a nice case/cover for it. Would have bought it as a gift but no longer available.

I haven't seen my neighbor recently to see if she's still happy with the Haier.

Isn't the Haier made by LePan? I thought I saw that on the back of the tablet. Looked at reviews on LePan and they seem to be good so wonder why such a sub-standard Haier tablet.

You are so right. I looked at the booklet and for tech support you call Le Pan.

I purchased my LePan tablet 2 years ago and it is still going strong and the screen quality is very clear. It was a special price on HSN for around $175. and the screen is twice the size of this Haier. I thought the Haier would be an upgrade in speed, memory, features. That's how much I know. I will try to be more informed next tablet purchase.

You have an 18 inch tablet?

Re: haier tablet disappointment

I got one for my grand-daughter who is going to be
3 years old in April... Her 5 year old sister has an iPad
that she works on... She is using it since she was in pre-K
because it is part of her school's requisition for their
3 year olds & up.. Many schools are starting their kindergarten
children on i-Pads..:
:
The 2 year old was given a Leap Frog tablet but she wants
her sister's iPad ... I was hoping that this would tide her over
until she starts pre school in September and her parents
get her,.... her own iPad....That she has to have...
:
I will return it and get her the iPad early...

This tablet might be alright if it works, and the owner were a little tech savvy, I can not believe this tablet runs better than a Samsung.

That haier was JUNK...returned it and went to a Samsung and LOVE it...daughter has the 10.1 and I got the 7""..which is great for me. And it was on sale to boot...$140.

No problems what-so-ever with the Samsung..just pure joy!

I would return this, if you can not use this right now. You need wireless service to see if it is working properly.

Re: haier tablet disappointment

Mines in the box ready to go back. I thought I would be able to "get used to" the slow start ups, the constant blur of the screen if it wasn't straight on, the unresponsive touch pad at times. But my patience lasted one week. Quad core? Really? Please!

I totally agree with other posters that we should NOT be responsible for shipping charges to return these pieces of junk. I too saw that it is completely gone from the site, so they realize their mistake, now make it right with the customer and don't ding us with the return shipping costs!
